My goal for the whole summer was to run 12's NA and Im so damn close now at 13.1 with a 1.9 60' time. I recently upgraded my rear end and got a set of MT ET Streets that should put me into the 12's ( I was running Nitto's before)

1. Whats a good PSI to run at?

2. Good launch RPM?

3. Long/short burn out? Or just until you see smoke?

Ive run nothing but stock tires or Nittos so Ive never experienced the MT ET streets. Im going to the drag strip this friday night to see how it all pans out. I know these same questions have been asked before but I know there are some guys in here with the same type of car I have that have good track experience.

Those are et street drag radials, not et street slicks. You should be able to launch a little harder than the nitto's but not as hard as an et street slick. I don't think you'll be ale to just dump it and go unless your suspension is good stuff.

1. 12-15 psi

2. start at 4K rpms and dump the clutch. after that you may be able to go higher or you may need to slip the clutch a little more. this will be more of trial and error

3. short burnout. about 3-4 seconds. i went through my first pair way to quick. you dont need a smoke show.

i still think with that power you should be trapping higher.

I figured I would be to but I think its falling off at 5,000+ RPM's b/c of the cobra intake. I was pushing the same RWHP with my 95 GT with a Paxton and I was trapping 107 with 3.55's. I really should get it dynoed here just to see if it is putting down what I was told it was, I do have the dyno sheet. Thanks for the tips

for comparison my best trap on motor is 104.9 with 270 at the wheels. if i swapped to some afr 165's or the like im sure i would see a few more mph. 107-108. definetly more than 106. the 351 and 185's should be even more than that with the intake you have

have you weighed the car? i dont see it weighing anymore than 3500 but thats just a guess. the 351 and cage might add a little weight but i dont think enough to make that much of a difference. im at 3400 with driver. not trying to sound like a broken record here but you should be trapping at least 110.

I've never run the ET street DR's, so I can't comment of what to do with them. I ALWAYS do a smokey burnout at least a day before I take new DR's to the track to heat cycle them. I know for a fact that it makes a difference with Nittos so I can only assume the same would hold true for the MT's. I think you will be surprised with how well those tires hook. Everyone that I know that has them is shocked with how well they stick. As for the MPH, I do agree that you should be trapping WAY higher, especially at NED. Make sure you nail your shifts as fast as possible. If it was my car I would do one of the following:

1. Forget about getting the car to hook tonight on your new DR's. Go to the track and launch at say 2500 on EVERY run so that you are consistent and then make a pass shifting at 5000, then the next one at 5250, then 5500, then 5750 and write down on every slip what you launched and shifted at. Look at the 1/8th mile MPH and 1/4 mile trap speeds. You should see a trend if you can keep all of the other variables as close to the same as possible. Make absolutely sure you give the car plenty of time to cool off. I used to see almost a 1-2mph difference from hot lapping the car to running it when it had sufficient time to cool off.

2. Forget the above recommendation and keep you shift RPM the exact same on every run, but work strictly on the launch. I don't know if the MT's will hold a clutch drop of if they will need the clutch to be slipped a little to cushion the power hit like Nittos do. Again, try to keep everything else the same run to run.

Good luck!

weight also plays a roll in his traps, his weight because of the 351 and everything else will cause it to be a lot heavier

3,700 with me in it, Im 200

I'll most my times tonight when I get back. Thanks for the tips paul, I have yet to heat cycle them, I should probably do that today, just give a nice burn out on them and then let them cool down?

I did it

60' - 1.808

330 - 5.350

1/8 - 8.262

MPH - 83.45

1000 - 10.781

1/4 - 12.884

MPH - 107.61

That was the first run of the night. Seems like after the sun goes down the track cools down and just does not hook as well. I ran another 12.995 but the last run was a 13.2.

Bad news is my raido is F'ed up and it wont show anything on the display for the face plate, I can change the stations but I dont know what station Im on :D

Even worse something broke, on the last run of the night. I think its the bolt that holds the H-pipe onto the header. Its loud as hell now and I can smell exhaust bad, its def a bad exhaust leak from somewhere. I'll have to check it out more tomorrow, it does not sound like anything coming from the engine and it ran fine on the way home so Im thinking the engine TQ'ed pretty hard on the last run and snapped the bolts that hold the H pipe to the header. At least I hope thats all it is.

Got my 12's N/A for the year thats was my whole goal. I love those MT ET Streets those things hook like nothing I have ever seen before, puts the Nittos to shame. Hopefully I can make it back soon once I figure out what broke tonight.

Congrats! I remember my first 12 second pass. Feels good, eh? Makes it all worth it when you reach your goal.

Yeah it does, Ive hit 12's before on my last 95 GT but that was aided by a Paxton Supercharger and 10LBS of boost. Did it this time N/A. Im pretty sure I went 12.8 then to wish I could find the time slip. Either way I know if I hit 12.7 it will be my best time Ive ever done.
