I spoke with Scott at AFR today. I want to use a shaker on my 393 stroker engine for my '70 Mach 1. This means I need to use a dual-plane intake like a Weiand Stealth due to the height of the Vic Jr. My question was if I could use the 205's with the Stealth intake and have no affect on performance. Scott said I would lose a little down low but not enough to notice a difference on the 393 cube engine. I figure after spending $200 for upgraded springs and 7/16 studs, I am about $100 shy of buying 205's ($1630) which come with the upgrades. Parting with the shaker and replacing the Stealth with a Vic Jr. intake is a bunch cheaper than buying new heads if I ever wanted more HP down the road. I understand the dual-plane will be a restriction for airflow but will it be enough to notice? I will be happy to make 500 HP at the flywheel and will look for no more. I am building a street car and that is it. I know the 185's will have more velocity than the 205's. Scott just recommends the 205's on the 393 since they will breath a bit more and I wanted to bounce this off of you guys for your opinions. Thanks for the help.
