I'm probably going to order some AFRs from FTI soon. I'll also buy their cam package. My questions are...

Do they sell assembled AFR's?
Are the assembled ones good enough to run the FTI cam, valve spring wise I mean? Or will I need to buy new springs?
If I go with a stud mounted rocker, who makes hardened pushrods that would work well?
Non Emission - Emission heads.. what's the difference?
24lbers should be enough for a high 12 second combo shouldn't they?
And with the AFR/FTI combo I've heard our comps don't like it too much... who burns a good chip to correct this.. I don't have the knowhow or time for a tweecer.
Scorpion rockers I'm guessing?
What valve covers? I've got a Fox set sitting here would they work?

Any do's and don'ts you think I need to know, let me know. Thanks.

You can get the 8032 spring upgrade. I did, it will prevent valve foat from the steeper ramp rates of hydraulic roller cams. They come assembled. Ed will probably reccomend Engine Werks pushrods. Difference between emissions and non emission are only the provisions for the smog lines. No performance differences. Might as well get the emissions legal ones and plug the holes if your deleting the smog. Easier to sell if you ever need to. 24# should be fine. JMS makes good chips. Scorpions or Comp Cams Pro Mags. Fox valve covers should work fine. Might have a little trouble with them hitting against the altenator bracket or elbow adapter, but that can be filed down.

Good luck.

Everything that Jalke said.

I got my Heads with the upgrade, cam, timing chain, and pushrods from Ed for $2009 plus shipping.

Most of those questions can be answered several ways and depending on what you tell Ed you expect from the combo would determine which way the question would be answered.

I would start the question process by talking to Ed.

That is the custom thing about doing business with FTI. Advice will be given based upon your imput and that same advice most likely would not work for the next customer cause their needs are different than yours.

Thats my viewpoint of doing business with FTI.

You don't have to get everything from Ed. I got just my cam from him. Use your credit card elsewhere and send Ed the $325 for the cam.

I got mine from Muscle Motors. I got the spring upgrade and a free set of Fel-Pro head gaskets with it for $1400.

He said AFR was having a price increase of $50 after Jan. 1 2004, but that could have just been something to tell me to get me to buy then. Only way to find out for sure is e-mail them. info@musclemotors.com

Don't get a cash advance on your credit/debit card because you will be charged a fee in an amount determined by the carrier. If you have a bank account, just go to your bank and get a money order or cashier's check made.

Like I said I think I'll just use my tax returns to buy my cam. I just need to buy the heads. I think I'll email muscle motors and see what they say. I'm sure they accept credit right?

As for the FTI thing.. How's that hydrolic roller cam package from FTI for 575? All it lacks is pushrods right? I may get that.
