What are the high rev upgrade springs anyways? Are they really needed? For the cost I will do the upgrade but wondering whats wrong with the stock springs.

Probably nothing if you're using the stock cam. ;)

Good luck B. But please tell me your card has a low interest rate, or you'll be sending money to the cc company for this headswap for the next 3 years.

Jordan, whats happening!
Right now it's setup to be more of a highway assassin then a 1/4 mile killer.
I made 2 "shakedown" runs down the track with it to see what kind of power it was making on the top end and went 13.7@107. That sounds horrible for the mods, but I'm actually very happy with it. Shifted out of first around 4000rpm, and shifted to second and third just under 6000 rpm, 60fts were somewhere in the 2.4 range. Once I get the money to put a serious trans and high stall TC in it, I don't see any reason why it won't go high 11's. But I went away to school this year, so those parts won't find their way into the car for at least another year and a half.
I'll at least get it tuned this summer and do some kind of brake upgrade along with whatever else I can afford.
It looks like Baird and you are building a nice set of 5.0 street machines. I checked out your sig and those 98 Cobra's look great with that yellow. Have you had your car to the track with its current mods?

BTW - here's a pc or two of the Bird:

Front Mount Dirty Sleeper

I'm thinking of selling my AFR 165s with the dual valve upgrade, Just thinking right now though. They are not being used right now I was going to sell them to a friend with a 93 cobra but he doesnt have the 1300 right now. I do love the ones on my car now though, they are the exact same as the ones I bought for my friends car, But I am now just holding them?

I do like the way the 98 Cobras look on my car but the pic on my site is not a good one at all...it's dark and at a weird angle. Part of me wants to get a set of 2000 Cobra R's, but I'm not sure I want to make the move to 18's (slower, and higher tire prices).

I have not been to the track but I've done a few tests on the highway. I don't like to do high speed street races anymore but a black LS1 followed me out of the college a few weeks ago and followed me around town so I knew he wanted to play. We both had traction and I pulled on him until that massive LS1 top end took over, and then he really wasn't pulling that hard. Before the heads/cam/longtubes it would have been a raping. :) I'm VERY happy for the money I spent (got the heads, cam, rockers, longtubes, new pushrods, new lifters, and gaskets for LESS than the price of just a set of AFR's!).

Oh, and nice pics of the car! That thing is so cool. Gotta love being quick AND comfy! I always thought it would be cool to have a built up 95 Impala SS or a modded Mercury Maurader.

But I would be pretty happy with that 13.7 for now. You gotta consider your curb weight and you'd be in the low 13's if you could get some better 60's. I KNOW the T-Trim is capable of pushing that thing faster. Do you have a shift kit?

Does your Dad still have the L?

JACK! What's going on! I was up your way last weekend.. Drove by.. but no one was home! Glad to see you still have the Bad Blue Bird.
I don't know about LS1 hunting :D but I'm deffinately going AFR/FTI. I see the kinds of stuff these guys are laying down and it seems to be the way to go..

Zero... it's a Zero Percenter... :D

Imyourzero - My father still has the Lightning. No recent mods, but his is thinking about sending his blower out to Apten to be ported.
The Bird has a Trans-go shift kit, but its something I want to change out for a custom shift kit that's known as the J-mod. The engine should be laying down mid to upper 400rwhp, so that 13.7 will drop by a lot when I get the right combo of parts on her. Right now I am trying to decide if I should keep the car a stock looking driver, or just convert it to a weekend/strip car and start dropping weight. Any weight I can remove would really help take stress off the drivetrain, so its a tough decision.

Hitman - Man, I wish I knew you were going to be in the area. I could have went home for the day and we could have met up for lunch or something.
