my first thoughts were that's quite a smooth power and and TQ curve....broad too...i would of thought it was a custom cam if not told other wise

That is a very smooth curve in deed, I would think a long runner intake would make a bit more hp/tq down low and pull just as far.

There should be more in there.... I would not buy anthing else, just tune what is there!! Looks like the Dyno run did good.. have you looked into advancing the Lunati 2 or 4*'s that will wake up the car.. also I see in your sig you have a "FTI" camshaft?? whats up??

We are pulling 295-310 on ported E7s and less camshaft.. so.. get into the cam phasing and tune!! cool??

This is not Grady's car but another poster's car. He just wanted to talk about that thread.

I'm observing here because I have a similar setup, except I have the regular RPM (ported by the man above) and want to see what comes out of the discussion. I have not gone to a Dyno yet because I'm waiting to get my N20 online - had issues with Dual window switch not working and waiting for vendor to diagnose the problem.

The AFR looks good and consistent so would you conclude that it was tuned.

By the way Grady those numbers look similar yours with the stock TB etc. in your dyno tune run.

Another one of those pulls where the hp & tq are rated on different
scales to make the curves appear flatter

I really don't like that

Notice these two things

1) 300 tq is not obtained until around 4200 rpm
and
Is sustained for only about 600 more rpm

2) STD calibration pull yields higher than typical SAE values

Also ... Power starts to fall about 5700 rpm

Idk what headers he is using , but its really close to what I have, injectors are smaller but seems to be working fine, except for the intake sounds really close to what I have. I am glad some like the cam, since it’s not so popular on here, one thing is that he doesn’t mention how much advance on the timing, and the ARF looks flat

It looks to me that the 300 starts on the 3800, or i am the one off the scale, maybe with a intake with longer runners would help low end tq on this combo?

I went back and took a closer look

I'd say it does look like he made it to 300 by 4100 rpm so ... I was off a bit

Still ... even if it was 3800

I'd not call that optimum

on second look i do notice that although its a smooth curve its not a nessecarilly high one...i think a stock cam could of produced them tq # ers on the low end

That hp curve looks very nice. It looks to peak at 5600-5700 but stays pretty level from 5100 to the end of the dyno run while maintaining a flat AFR even with those 24lb injectors. I'm thinking that the big RPM II intake is contributing to the high RPM hp stability. On the other hand the tq curve drops rather quickly after peaking.

Those numbers could change also if the day were cooler. 96 is pretty hot.

I would have liked to see a bit more tq but hp seems to be pretty right on. Maybe a RPM or street heat intake would be a better tq producer??

ID say its just pretty flat...but not necessarily good...nor bad

OK Guys

I rounded up a few tfs headed combos from my files and you can see the raw
data in the Excell pic

I loaded the combo we have been discussing in my file

I selected from those four tfs combos one that used the same
Street Heat intake

I'll now wait for your replies

Thats interesting , i can think that most of the diference its on the cam+tuning, we should have more details on the AFR+lunati combo like the total timing

as i said in the thread, i don't know much about that cam, but the heads and intake can support more power all across the range, so it looks to me like that combo is not terribly well matched.



and i'm with grady ... it may be a flat torque curve, but i wouldn't want that curve out of my car if it was a 302, i'd want alot more torque

Well ... I spent all day out in the sun working on my dawd's mini van

I somehow thought for a while our original combo was using a
TFS street heat intake

Hope I didn't add too much confusion here

Never the less ... you can use that combo to see it leaves something
to be desired ... at least to me it does

Update on this combo

I was looking at the original thread and it was said that cam was setup for old
school iron heads.

Those heads had very inefficient exhaust ports

Back in those days it was common to use the cam to make up for that

The more current heads like AFR, TFS, & Edel don't have those issues

We have talked at length several times about you can't always mix old tech
parts with current tech parts.

This may very well be one of those situations

Seems that that was the idea on this lunati cam , however some people with blowers said that is a very good cam on blower applications, well it seems that it was not a such a good idea this cam

You used my old combo from 6 gears ago in the comparison graph and it destroyed that afr/lunati combo

That afr/rpm II combo needs a custom cam, valve springs and some gear and it WILL work! That lunati cam ain't working with that combo at all.
