Here's the deal...I'm moving back to MD and will be registering the mustang up there. I'm trying to decide whether to put Magnaflow cats on my current Mac o/r H-pipe or go ahead and buy the VRS catted X-pipe. I've read a lot of threads that have had nothing but good stuff to say about the VRS pipes. Unfortunately, most everything references their o/r pipes. With all the debate on what makes more hp and what sounds best with chambered and what sounds best with straight-through mufflers, my question is different.

Who makes the cats for VRS ???, Does anyone have a clip with a VRS X-pipe and a Magnaflow catback? I have searched through the usual exhaust clip links, but can't find many with a VRS pipe, and there aren't many Magnaflow clips for 99-04 GTs either.

I know that Catco and Magnaflow make cats, as well as, some other others. I have heard several times that the Magnaflows are the best and that companies other than Magnaflow use them.

x-pipe it will sound good with the magnaflow catback. it will be a bit a bit quiter for sure. just go to mustang exhaust and listen to the clips of the magnaflow catback with thier catted x. sound wise it should be almost identical.

it would be cheaper to do the cats in the mac pipe but I like stailess exhaust so if I were you i would take the time to put the vrs or magnaflow midepipe in right now and sell you mac pipe.

the vrs is two piece so it installes a bit easier. I do not know who's cat's vrs uses but I would call them and ask. you used to be able to get the magnflow with cats for almost the same price so if you think thier cats are better you could just buy thier x-pipe.

Well, the guy that is doing my wife's truck stocks Magnaflow cats. He mentioned that he installs them for $50 or so. The cats run $85 each. I'd be looking at around $230-240 after tax. I can get a catted VRS pipe for $360, and a stainless one for $420. The catted magnaflow pipe is over $500. Does anyone know a cheaper place? I listened to the Magnapacks with the Magnaflow X, but the only reg. Magnaflow muffler and X-pipe combo sound clips were on the Mach 1. Either way, I liked the sound.

The cheaper choice is to go with the cats on my current Mac H-pipe, but my other concern is the salt and crap on the roads in Maryland during the winter snowy months. If my Mac is going to be eaten up fairly quickly, then I'll dump the money on a stainless pipe. Are there any members here from that area and how does you exhaust hold up to the weather there?
