Well I want to temporary remove my cats....but be able to install them without going to the exhaust shop.

so,I went to the autoparts store and founf this type of pipe that clamps on to exhaust pipes, so in other wordsyou dont need a welder to connect the pipes.

I was thinking of using my reciporcating saw/saw zaw to slice the cats of then use a spare piece of pipe in it's place and using to of those clamp thing to hold it in place....will this work? anyone have done this? is this too ghetto? thanx

Personally i don't like to use clamps, If you use regular clamps it will be a big pain to get thos pipes back off cuase it will crush the pipe, If moneys not an issue just buy a summit H-pipe to bolt on and off, there like $100. as far as being ghetto, if ya dont have alot of cash you gotta do what ya gotta do.

This is a creative idea, but I think it would be easier just to buy a used off road H or X pipe. You would be putting in just as much effort swapping the stock mid pipe (with cats) for the bigger, catless mid pipe as you would just putting on and removing cats from the stock mid pipe. Know what I mean?

Only downside is it will be a little more expensive. But, you will get more power because the aftermarket mid pipes are bigger.
