Am I gonna like Flowmaster Delta 40's?

I just made the appointment for my 68 to go into the exhaust shop on Thursday to receive 2.5" dual exhaust from the headers back using Flowmaster Delta 40's. My combo is new 347, Hooker full length competition headers and T5 manual trans (other detaisl in my sig). Like everyone else, I want the best of both worlds I want to keep the performance high and have that awesome performance sound, I'm just hoping I will nto regret my decision because it's too loud for normal driving. It's not a daily driver, but I do want to be abel to cruise while listening to the radio. Anyone running similar setup? Regrets or are you happy?

I ran 2-1/2" Delta 40's at first on my '65 (306EFI before the supercharger) and found my teeth rattling and small children in my neighborhood running terrified to their mothers when I drove by. It was not exactly subdued. The drone at 2K rpm was enough to make it hard to focus (exaggerating a little, but only a little). I swapped them within about 2-weeks for Dynomax turbos and am much happier with them. It all depends on your tastes - mine tend toward avoiding hearing loss and irking all of my neighbors...

I second that. Call the mufler shop and get either Flowmaster 50 Series or even better the Dynomax. Both will not transmit sound thru the bottom of the car like the older 40 Series will. My Magnaflows are loud enough when I step on it (but behind the car, not under) and quiet enough for cruising with the mrs and kids onboard.

I have 50s and they are plenty loud - I set off alarms if I rev near one of those ricers I would not want anything louder.

Thanks, I was thinking the 40's would be too loud once the newness of them wore off. I am going to go with the 50's. Description from their website:

I cast my vote for Hooker Aerochamber's, my new favorite muffler. Very hi flow, great tone, virtually no resonance.

I was thinking the same thing prior to swapping out my Delta 40's, but they only make the 50 series with a longer muffler body - made it a pain to fit into the existing space left by the 40-series. There was a Dynomax of the correct length, fortunately. Might not be an issue for you, but you might want to check...

You'll be happy with the 50's. I have the 40's and get headaches from the resonance. I have a BIG stereo system and to hear it I have to turn it up so loud my ears bleed!

My mom just got 50s on her 68 and they sound the same on the outside (just as mean) but the inside is quieter and NO RESONANCE!

Possibly Magnaflow universal 2.5" mufflers? I put these in place of 40s and like the sound much more. Sounds different than that tone a flowmaster makes every v8 sound like

I tried all the Flowmasters and ended up with the Super 40's. Much less resonance/drone than the Delta Flows, to the point I believe it's non-existant. They are my favorite on small blocks.

The sound is quieter but still sound mean and cackling, just right IMO. Try them, you'll like them.

I appreciate all the input and opinions. I decided to go with Flowmaster 50's with H pipe etc 2.5" I like the sound of Flowmaster, just didn't want it to be too obnoxious and overpowering in the interior. Hopefully I'll be happy, will know Thursday afternoon!
