am i LEAN with this setup.....................!!!!????

okay I'm gonna list my current and soon to come mods. Can anyone tell me if i will be running lean with these mods or will I be fine. keep in mind (NO dynoshop so no way for a dyno tune).

THE LIST:
Mac Cai.
steeda U/D pulleys.
FRPP 3.73 + aluminum driveshaft.
Accufab TB+plenum combo.
Custom 2.5" cat back + weld in flowmaster mufflers.
Diablosport predator OR Xcal 2

thats it i think. So with these mods will i be runing too lean?

With all those air mods, if it was me, I'd find a way to get to a Mustang Dyno and get it dialed in with the Predator. Their's no tuning place anywhere in your state??? Heck, even when I lived in IOWA they had them. It was a 120 mile drive but I'd consider it worth it. But that's just me.

I'm working in the gulf , they dont have a dyno here.
so i will be lean , is that what your trying to say??
so can i work this with the Xcal2 , and what should i do , because i think these are all the mods i will do to "This" car.

I'm sure your hand held programmer could adjust it, but to what parameters I have no clue. When they weld in a bung to your car at the Dyno, they'll get the info. they need to adjust the A/F on your programmer. It takes afew pulls to get it adjusted. Maybe someone else with a similar set-up will chime in and give you a clearer answer.

Ok call me stupid but if you order the xcal2 don't they have you tell them all the mods done so they can setup a program in the programmer? Also didn't I hear MD is putting in 2 programs if you order from them? If so tell them the mods and your situtation and ask for a very conservative tune. Now if you go with a predator there was a website offering free mustang email tunes if you purchase from them, don't remember who or if it was a special just do a search.

I had installed the Mac CAI, Accufab 75 MM TB and PLenum and I was running too lean 14.9:1 !!!

Craig from Radical RAcing tuned the car for me last week and add 20% more fuel across the curve to get me to 12.9:1.

Try to find a race shop and just watch thw W.O.T runs until you do.

the TB and Plenum leans you out pretty good. Look at it this way.. you've changed the setup of your car from stock, you've opened it up so more air can flow in.. if you're adding more air than you've changed your air/fuel ratio.. meaning you're running lean

thats a perfect answer , now can i fix the problem with the Xcal2 and maybe their custom tune. I mean it already comes with a performance tune, and i will request a custom tune for all my mods. So then what will i do when i use the tuner?? I have to either use the performance tune thats already in the tuner OR the custom tune i asked for. I cant use them both right? or how does this work???

I mean if I use the custom tune i asked for , I wont gain as much Power since I'm not using their performance tune, right? How does this work. This is exactly where I'm confused . solve this for me and you have"saved" someone from suicide lol

I would still get it to a dyno tuner to at least se what your A/F ratio is.

the best way to correct your a/f is to take it to a dyno. you can look at my dyno chart

blue = before tune
red = after tune

that's with my SLP LTs, SLP O/R X-pipe, Steeda cat-back, Accufab 75mm TB and Plenum, and Steeda CAI.. and the tune was done by the SCT Xcalibrator2. Check out my A/F before and after.

Does anyone here know what the job of the maf is? Get an aftermarket MAF sensor. Its when you get into doing major changes like adding nitrous or a bigger cam that you really have to worry about your a/f ratio, unless your hardcore into getting your car running like a dream. Then you can worry about it.

okay what about this

Okay lets just say I strike out the Accufab TB+Plenum.Since you guys told me I will be lean with the List i stated above.
So the new list is like this:

Mac Cai.
steeda U/D pulleys.
FRPP 3.73 + aluminum driveshaft.
Custom 2.5" cat back + weld in flowmaster mufflers.
Diablosport predator OR Xcal 2

Will i still be Runing LEAN after i cancel the TB+plenum , with this new set-up as listed above.
and yes guys , I mentioned alot that I CAN NOT ever get a dyno until i move back to the US.

From what i heard so far, our car's computers can compensate for a lot of changes on the car.
Some intake mods, some exhaust mods, the computer gets readings all the time and when something seems out of whack, it compensates for the changes.
There is a point at which the computer wont be able to compensate for mods (supercharging, turbo and so on)
With minor mods like the ones on your list, you will be fine. Go for it and enjoy the car

Agreed. Once again, the job of the MAF is to deliver the proper amount of fuel for the amount of air coming into the engine. If you get an aftermarket mass air flow meter, you shouldn't have a problem. The computer "reads" the amount of air coming into the engine via the MAF meter, and delivers the proper amount of fuel. When you get into things like superchargers, turbo, nitrous, internal engine mods, then i would be concerned with the a/f ratio. I say just go for it, there are plenty of people out there running the same set up and i'm sure they don't have problems. Besides, if you where running too lean, to the point where its dangerous, you'd get a CEL.

so what kinda MAF should i get?? I heard somewhere that an aftermarket MAF will make you lose power!!!

Sugesting an aftermarket MAF is BAD advice!!! The stock MAF is more than fine for his setup. You don't need to upgrade the MAF until you max the stocker out, somewhere around 350 rwhp, and even then you are better off going with a OEM unit like a LMAF. First aftermarket Maf's are harder to tune, and second, he doesn't have access to a dyno shop anyway.

To answer the original question, you should not be running lean with the listed mods, unless you have introduced a vaccuum leak somewhere. Otherwise you are fine.

Most of the people on this board to not have a good understanding of how MAF based fuel injection works.
