Any way to race prep a factory 5.0 block?

I'll try to research for some info on this new boss block. If it's available in a roller setup it sounds like the ticket. If anyone has any info or knows where to find out please let me know. Looks like the plasma tv may have to wait, the 5.0 may soon get a new foundation:nice:

Looks like the boss 302 block comes with a bore size of 4.00" indicating it's a finished bore, though I can't find anything on the lifter bore finish. Whether or not it requires a torque plate honing is yet to be determined. Sounds like the going price is roughly $1733 which doesn't sound like much of a bargain. World or dart blocks may still be the way to go.

Yea but if the boss doesnt need that much machining it would definatly be the way to go, dont forget darts need a lot more money put into them for machining.... :SNSign:

Our DART block only needed bored/honed and an aling hone on the main, cause the clearances were a little tight. The decks, lifter bores, and cam bores were all good.

Sometimes you get a good block, some times you get one that needs a little more work

DART offers a Sportsman block aswell, that can supposedly handle 1500hp (4-bolt center caps,2-bolt end caps in cast iron). And it comes factory roller ready.

There have been a few boss castings that have come out they look really good thus far. Public purchase should be in a few weeks, HP rating is 1200, lifter bores are finished, cylinders need to be honed as they come just under 4.00. Its the same as an R302 except there cooling holes in between the siamese bores and screw in freeze plugs. Same pricing. Remember though, the 400 small block chevy is siamese and never had a cooling issue on the street. I dont understand fords reasoning on offering this block. 1799.00$
