My friend just got a 97 Cobra and is thinking about swapping in the 3.73 rearend out of his 97 GT into it and then putting his NX kit on. We all know if you search you will find alot of dragstrip only guys like 4.30's and 4.56's but for a nitrous car that goes to the track sometimes and also likes to run big cammed LS1's and 03 Cobras on the highway, 4.30's and the nitrous seems like too much.
Alot of guys like to run from 40 around here because it's just hard to find a place to stop race. Call it ricer or whatever but sometimes it's more fun to beat people at their own game anyway. Has anybody ever had 3.73's and 4.10's and PREFERED the 3.73's on the highway from a roll? Wonder how much is given up at the track with them? We only have 1/8 mile around here.
I have a video of two bolton 96 Cobras racing, one had 3.73's, one had 4.10's, the 3.73 car slowly crept out to 3/4 of a car ahead from a 40 roll, the 4.10 car won by like 1.5 cars from a 15 roll. Interesting. Maybe 3.90's would be a good compromise?
There used to be a local that had a bolton 98 Cobra with 3.73's and a NOS 125 Dry shot, it ran pretty good.
