here is the info from that site. The lift is a little less on the intake side
.444 on mustang
.422 on explorer/mountaineer
the lift on exhaust is a little more
.444 on mustang
.448 on explorer/mountaineer

the only big difference I see in on lobe seperation
115.5 on mustang
116 on explorer/mountaineer

Sounds like to me its nearly the same exact camshaft! I'm leaving mine in, when I do my swap! I'll keep you guys posted on the results!
thanks again for the info

Without knowing the lobe profile or the actual valve events, you don't have the whole story. The truck camshaft was designed with a more restrictive exhaust system in place on the trucks/Exp/Mountaineers and it's set up to produce max torque at even lower rpm than the HO. It's not anywhere near the 'same exact camshaft'.

You'll have a stump puller -- but I'll be surprised if peak HP occurs any higher than about 4400 rpm. Which means the motor will be all out of gas well before 5000. You'd be MUCH better off sticking the HO cam in there....

TMoss has a cam chart with the vavle timing events. I'll see if I can find a thread I started that he posted it in.

I found the thread, but the pic was gone. Fortuneatly I am in the habit of snagging such pics and saving them. I found it, but it doens't have the Explorer cam info on it.

When I swapped out my stock 200k+ mile longblock for my 40k mile mountaineer longblock, I kept the stock mountaineer cam in it. I know, I should have switched it…but I had plans of turbo charging it and was curious as to what it could do.

As far as comparisons go…even with the truck cam in there…the new heads gave me a huge seat of the pants difference. I regret that I was not able to get it to the drag strip before throwing some turbo's on. I'd venture to say that my et's would have improved several 1/10th's if not more.
