Anyway to get into the 12's N/A or really close??

Bill, I am not trying to take pot shots at you. I just see things a little differently. I understand your view point, and I agree that seeing how other people go fast is great for deciding what one should do to one’s own car.

You also have to see it from the guy that really believes that he can easily have a 12 second car with only a few mods. However, no matter how hard he tries his car is nowhere near that fast, and is lucky to be running mid to high 13's. There are so many variables that can make the exact same car run completely different times. The most important is weather. The DA makes such a huge difference, but most people ignore it. I even listed it in my sig because people see those times for the whole three mods I had at the time and they go :bs:

There are so many factors that go into how well your car can perform on any given day that I feel one freak day or even one run can not be used to classify your car. The simplest things like altitude and weather (Density Altitude) have such a drastic effect on you car’s performance. Even I was surprised by how fast my car ran the first time I moved to FL. My previous best time just several months earlier in GA was a 13.7 something. My first time at the track in FL the temp was 40 degrees and the track elevation was 170’ (vs 1200’ in GA). I ran a 13.277 that day, and I was simply amazed by how much the DA made a difference. Sure I can tell every one that I have 13.2 second car, but that is technically true, but in reality it is much different. Over last year my car ran much better the low elevation and my car was a solid 13.5 car. However, fooling myself in to thinking I had a good 13.2 car would of just got my clock cleaned if I would of raced a car that runs 13.2 consistently.

My point is that telling people that they can have a 12’s second car with only a few mods is misleading. Yes, the list of 12 second n/a 2V cars get longer every day, but comparing that to the number of guys out there racing the percentage is practically zero. You might get lucky and it is 0.000001%. My point is that there is a big difference between a car that consistently run 12’s and a car that has a freak day and hits the 12’s. I personally think that the freak great runs are fun for talking about, but they don’t really mean much in the grand scheme of things.

I think everyone likes guys like you Bill. It is great to talk about you hitting 12’s with what few engine mods you have. I think not only for you but the whole modular crowd can boast a little more pride because of it. I see your point Bill about mentioning 12 second cars with only a few mods. However, I still feel that those guys are the exception and not the norm. I guess you are more of an optimist while I feel that I am more of a realist. I do not mean that as a knock on you. You say the glass is still pretty full, and I say its fluid level is at 65%. If you get my drift :D
