are 1.72 cobra rockers THIS noisy or am i hearing somethign else

Ok so ever since i changed to ported gt40 heads and all ive had this noise that has been driving me absolutely crazy. It has to be either the 1.72 cobra rockers or the headers. Ive heard from several ppl the cobra rockers are more noisier than the stock gt rockers but dang this is crazy. i can shift gears and when i clutch it and let off the gas i can hear it real bad esp in low gears. Then if im going at say HW speed 60-70 with the windows up i can hear it not real bad but can hear it. Now from what i read when i put on these rockers its a simple process and i thought i did it just right and i turned the motor over by hand with the vc's and it was not tapping them. Can the rockers loosen over time or can you ovetighten these. I used the stock pushrods caused they looked perfect to me. Please someone give me an opinion or could it be im just hearing a dang header leak the whole time? Those FMS ones were a pain cause u can only get a open end wrench on them thanks for the time

if tightened properly, its probally not the rockers, pull the VC off and check make sure there tight. my vote would be header leak based on your coment about how much of a PITA they are. i went through the same thing with mine. good luck

im startin to think its a header leak too but damn its tough to get on those bolts with all that crap in the enigne i almost don't think these shorties are worth the hassle

Yep, check for header leaks, they can sound similar. Also check for RR to VC or RR to VC baffle contact. My SVO 1.6s sound like a sewing machine but not overly loud. BTW, Crane Cobras (the OEM RR on the 93-95 cobras) are 1.7:1. Ford Racing offers a 1.72:1 ratio.

I had a similar problem but it was because I didn't have the valve lash set correctly. It took several attempt before I got it right.
