Auto Meter Guage Cluster.. why so expensive?

I've been looking at this thing for a whlie now and I don't understand why the price is so high ($400+) I've search and read posts and some people said that it's awesome and some said that it's not worth it. Would I be better off with just a $60 white face guage or the $400 cluster? Any opinion on that? thanks

The Autometer gauges do look better, but they aren't any more accurate than the stock ones. I think it is so expensive because it is a plug and play mod. There is no switching over parts, just plug the new one in. BTW what isn't expensive in the modifying hobby?

One of the best looking mods you can make to your interior. These are quality guages. Obviously, there is some trade off. They are expensive but easy to install (once you figure out the secret of removing the headlight switch). The other kits require removing the needles from your current guages and then doing some calibration for your "normal settings, "speedo, etc. The Auto Meter uses your same digital mileage meter. They look great in the daytime and even better at night.
:nice:
By the way, you will be impressed when you remove the guages and see that hefty bar that goes across the dash in your Stang!

I'm sure they look great and all but come on.....$400 dollars!?!? They are just not worth it, but if you've got the money to blow then by all means go for it. :nice:

I dont have that kind of money but these gauges suit me really well. Only 30 bucks from ebay. :nice:

Hey you did you steal my car b/c my interior looks just like that. I love my gauges, and for the price you can't beat

posts alittle old but o well..

Why so high.. cause
1. They are the only ones that make them..
2. Like said they are PLUG-N-PLAY.. Very Very easy to install. Easier than regular white faced gauges.. ( Replacing needle at 60mph is NOT fun.. helps when you do it at 2am tho.. hehe )
3. Think about it you getting 6 Lunar gauges.. that plug right in.

just my 2 cents

I had them in my 2000GT. Very nice. At night they are very bright. They do take some getting used to. The install is not plug and play. You have to take the electronics off your stock cluster and instal it on the autometer cluster.

The whole process took me 45 minutes. I was being extra careful. Now that i know how to do it, would prbably take 30 minutes. I got mine from Summit for about $320. I don't know what they are going for now. The tach needle does not move smoothly like the stock one. That was my only complaint.

Kinda pricey, but you have to pay to play. Since I do the car show thing, I think it was worth the bucks. Looked real nice in the charcoal colored interior.
