I hear you on everyone just walking right past. I just don't get it. I usually see MANY later SN95s/New Edges with 2V's and since they're all the same thing I don't get why they garner so much attention.

Most of the attention I got with my 94/95's was at gas stations, I'd have people come over and ask "zat have a 5.0 in it?" Then they're were the know it all's that swear Ford only put 4.6's in these cars.. lol

I have a feeling my new ride will gather a lot of attention at car shows. I just don't know which category it will fit into...

Weird... maybe it's a location thing. Seriously though not many people are holding on to the aero SN-95 body styles. There are very few at the car shows these days and each day that goes by your car is more rare and more unique... think about that before selling it, you know?

oh gotcha, i thought you wanted a more dedicated track car that could get driven on the street. 03 cobra to me is just a different engine than what you have but its still the same suspension/interior. not much of a change. i've heard too that most positive displacement blowers heat soak really bad at open track events, but i've never looked into it myself.

coyote swap would be sweeeeeet.

Nope I want a dedicated street car that can get driven on the track. The 03 Cobra is essentially just a different engine in the same chassis, but there's a lot of little changes that make it much better, especially for a street car. They do have heat soak problems, but that's mainly with over boosted blowers. There are people that open track Cobras regularly without issues.

Back on topic, I'll be tearing apart my old T5 tonight then ordering the parts that need replacing. I think I'll need to replace the input shaft at least, the gear looks kinda rough.

Got the transmission almost completely apart. My snap ring pliers I bought for this job couldn't handle the snap ring so 3rd gear is still installed. Everything looks good other than the input shaft/4th gear. Even the syncros are in good shape. The counter shaft made some noise that I didn't like when spinning so I removed it and I'm going to replace all the bearings. Ordering the parts tonight and hopefully I'll have it back together in a week or two.

Nasty!

And here's a slightly better shot of the engine. It's leaning way back because of no transmission, and I think my engine mounts are getting wore out.

I walk by the new Mustang's at shows. All the newer engine bays look the same to me. I had a 2006 GT Yellow I got from Rog and it was the most boring Mustang I've owned. When I see a 94-95 I'm instantly interested and I'll go talk to the owner.

Looks like some of those gears are really blued. Coming along nicely. Slap a blower on there and have fun again. You'll have the driveability of a stock motor and an extra 100HP when you want. An 03 Cobra is a nice ride, Rog had a sonic blue one. I really liked that one. I know I regret selling my 94 daily. Will never find one in the shape I kept mine. Hell you're running out of time with an 03 in really good shape (8+ years old already).

What gears are blued? Will that hurt anything?

Could be the flash from the camera? I thought the gears were discolored from excessive heat.

Oh that one is discolored from a bearing running through it. I already ordered a replacement for that one.

Made a little progress over the weekend. My rebuild kit showed up today so I hope to have the T5 back together tonight or tomorrow. My goal is to have it running this weekend.

The rebuild kit didn't come with new spring clips, which I lost one of, so I had to order a new set. Arrr. Hopefully it will be here by friday. I got everything reinstalled on the output shaft up the 3/4 slider. After closer inspection I found the front of the output shaft is blued and has a few rough spots. It's not real bad, and a new output shaft is $300 so I'm going to re use it.

FINALLY got my pilot bearing changed out tonight. Transmission is installed now, the rest of the project should go pretty quick. The goal for the weekend is to have everything except the exhaust finished up.

Went good for the most part. End play looks good on the countershaft and output shaft. One of the bolts for the throwout bearing retainer stripped... I put some loctite on it and tightened it down til it felt like it was going to start turning through, I'm hoping that will hold it. It still has 3 good bolts in it too so I think it will be fine.

I also changed the speedo gear on the output shaft so now my speedo will be right with 3.73's. Woo!

I think I have the wiring done and I finished the exhaust last night. I'm working on polishing the upper intake and once that's done and installed it should be ready to start.

When I first got my car, the stock exhaust rusted out and broke where the h-pipe and mufflers meet. I took it to a local exhaust shop and he made a custom h-pipe and welded it direct to the mufflers. Obviously it's impossible to remove without cutting, so that's what I did. To save a little money I reused that h-pipe and welded ball socket connectors to it. I also bought some flow tubes and installed them since my cat back was pieced together. I now have a proper exhaust system under the car.

I remember how much polishing sucks now.

Just about finished

I hear ya man, I do it for a living every day. Just for inspiration, here's one I did years ago, unfortunately it only sold for a little over 100 bucks on Ebay which was a let down since it took 2 full days to complete!

It's not nearly as smooth as that one, but I'm tired of sanding! I'm going to sand off the black paint and re-polish that area tomorrow, then I'm done with it. The lighting sucks in the pics, but you can see some reflections in the intake.

It lives! I still need to finish up a couple things before I can drive it, but went ahead and started it up tonight. It had a loud ticking sound for first couple minutes, I'm not sure if it's an exhaust leak or maybe a lifter slow to pump up. It stopped after it warmed up. Check out the video and let me know what you guys think it might be...

Exhaust

And here's a pic. I'll get some better pics once it's cleaned up.

Congrats Mike! Sounds like a ticking lifter, didn't have enough oil. I'm guessing while you have the valve covers off you drenched the valvetrain with oil. Maybe one didn't have enough. Polishing sux!
