Bassani Catback just arrived!!!

Pulled it out of the box and it looks great!
The tips are awesome!
Install shop doesn't open until Tuesday though
Hopefully they can sqeeze me in that day.
Can't wait to retire the Flows.

The catback no longer has baffles/resonators for the tips but after looking inside the mufflers I noticed something that resembled them...here's a pic:

Install it yourself today.

Believe me I am a novice wrench and I put on Borla cat-back on my old 04 GT by myself in maybe 2 hours with never touching a mustang before that.

I think I want to have it welded.
Plus, I don't have any way to lift the car.
Also, I need an alignment and they'll be doing that too.

Is welding it a good idea? Seems like you'd want to be able to remove it easily if you had to pull the tranny to replace the clutch. Also I resently had to readjust my catback to clear my rear swaybar when I lowered the car. I was glad it wasn't welded.

if you bolt it up tight and adjust it right you get any of that, but after you run it for a while just retighten all the clamps and you'll be ok

Bolt them on don't weld them, you will loss your warranty. And yes those are the sound resonators in the tips to help cut a few dB's noise. If you remove the screw on the bottom of the tips they will come out....

I'm a VERY novice wrench. The first wrenching I've EVER done on any mustang was installing my Bassani cat-back onto my Bullitt! I was just patient, took my time and it all came out very well. When you are finished, you'll have a healthy sense of accomplishment.

Helpful hint: Don't bother uninstalling your stock catback as is. Just get a sawzall and cut it. MUCH EASIER and you will save a ton of time.


Very Important

When you finish your install, DO NOT fire the car for the first time yourself! Have someone else sit in the car and turn the key while you stand 15-20 feet behind.............. and TAKE IT ALL IN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost gave myself an ulcer spending that much cash on my Bassani SS catback!! After install, I had my wife fire it up as I stood behind............ my stomach pains were gone IMMEDIATELY!! It's the best catback out there: Period!

Anything on my Bullitt is replaceable......... except my Bassani Catback!

Bassani doesn't send them for the tips anymore.

The baffles don't come with the Bx series. They only come with the stainless steel Bassani catback. Oh and install it yourself, it's not that bad, just take your time. Almost anyone can do it.

i did mine with jack stands and it was a bit of a struggle but at the same time easy

I know I can do it on my own.
My parents even used to own a shop for 22 years but are now retired as of 2 years.
My uncle has 2 shops with 10 bays too.
But, my old Flowmaster exhaust is welded in and needs to be cut and I need an alignment.
The shops owner has been a family friend for 20+ years and he is also one of MY customers.
So since I don't have any way of cutting the Flows out and no alignment machine for 17+ wheels, I'll be going to Bailey's.

it doesnt matter how you get it on there, either do it yourself or take it to the shop, the outcome will still be the same.... when you first start it and you will be glad that its on

Hope it's better than my Flowmasters.
From what I hear the Bassani will be more burbly/muscle sounding down low, and more racey up high.
Oh, and less drone.
I like my flows in the hi RPM's cause of my 4.10's.
But down low and around 2k they are kind of annoying; they sound like they moan.

yea come to think of it they are only 30$....but i guess your right, installing a catback should only be done by expert mechanics, after all...a lot could go wrong

Jeez.
Here it is again:
1. I have to go in for an alignment.
2. The Flows are welded in and need to be cut out.
3. Since the car is there anyway, I will have them cut my old Flows out and install the new Bassani.
4. Originally, I was going to have it welded, that's why I was going to have the shop do it in the first place. Now I will just have it clamped.
5. But I still need an alignment and I still need someone to cut the old Flowmaster Catback out cause it's welded.
And since the car will already be there up on a rack, without an exhaust, it might just be a good idea to have the new Bassani installed at the same time.
