BBK o/r X-pipe + flowmasters = Stink and TOO FREAKING LOUD

I just made that mistake tonight. It's too loud and the stink is obnoxious. I did hold onto my stock H-pipe with the 4 cats, BTW.

In one evening this catless midpipe, along with Flows weld-ins has been purchased and installed and totally HATED, after a 7 mile drive home. It has to go PERIOD.

My question is, should I look for a weld-in high flow cat to take back the stink and MOST of the noise, or should I revert to the stock exhaust, with the Weld in Flows and just sell the BBK o/r X?

By tomorrow night, I need this fixed. This is no way to enjoy a Mustang.

well flows and x pipes generally dont mix well, let alone open midpipe X with them. also, your pipe will burn in a little, and smell a little better. i like the open smell honestly lol. loud, yes, there is no way around that really unless you got ahold of some dynamat. that will help from the inside. you could always rig up some weld in cats on the X. that would be your best for sound etc

did you go with the 40 series flowmasters? my buddy put 50 series on his 03gt and they sounded sweet mind you i think he still had factory h-pipe.

They're 40 series and I'm sure they sound great at the track. But man, these things are deafening inside and with the windows down, I know it's just wrong to do that to the neighbors.

Besides that, the smell is gross and at some points, the cops will pull me. Yeah, it's that loud!

When I first drove my car with O/R H pipe and Flows I thought it was loud. I drove mine for the first time like this at night also. After a few days it didnt seem so loud. And I dont really notice much of a smell. Maybe Im just used to cars/trucks with beefy motors and free flowing exhaust...
Just drive it for a week, and then see what you think. I dont have any problems with the police, of course I dont tach it out all the time on the streets.

when i first got my Bassani X-pipe i got it O/R and it was sweet the tone was nice but it was just to damn loud so i traded them in for the catted one and i like it. The tone is still loud but not as how it use to be

So, if you were in my position, would you (with the too loud x-pipe) re-install the stock system, or go have your shop just cut and weld in some high flow cats?

I need to know. As I said, I need this taken care of in the morning and I'm not getting much response because of the Holiday weekend.

shoulda got an o/r H for deeper tone. either way its gonna stink with no cats...and as for loudness goes...come on, its supposed to be loud. you got an OFFROAD pipe!!!! what did you expect???...and its a mustang....all these people keep saying that their offroad x and h pipes made their cars too loud... DUHH thats one of the biggest reasons you go with no cats...

i just got an o/r H with my magnapacks and im still gettin used to the smell of no cats, but i absolutely love the loudness, and i believe my packs are a bit louder than your 40 series mufflers even tho yours drone more. I'd even go louder if i could, and i have one of the noisiest mustangs in my town...

I would've went with high flow cats big difference in sound and u don't get the bad smell.

Get a magnaflow cat back...its ALOT quieter and you keep the power of O/R. Sounds amazing too, get complements all the time. Had a few guys with flows say, "OMG what exaust is that!?!? It sounds WAY better than my flows" SERIOUSLY. One of them followed me into the gym parking lot and said he hated his flows lol and was wondering what exhaust setup I had. He wanted to stay catted so I told him magnaflows would be WAY too quiet (sound like stock on 4 cats H) so i said either A. SLP or B. magnapacks. He got the SLPs and loves them. Another guy @ work has catted prochamber W/ SLP and it sounds awsome too. Just dont go O/R W/ SLP lol.
Oh BTW the smell WILL go away...mine smelled BAD the first few hours of running. I dont smell anything now...if you stick your hand over the exhaust your hand WILL stink though. But you really cant smell anything otherwise.

You're worried about the stink. Are you sure you don't have an exhaust leak? When I first installed an offroad H pipe on my car, the gasket didn't seal right, so it sounded like an old pickup and it smelled so bad I couldn't sit at a light for too long.
