I have just purchased a set of BBK shorties for my 2003 GT and was hearing alot of chatter about it being a waste of money and time for little to no HP gain. It is also said that for better sound and HP gain save my money and get some long tubes. I was wondering, before i waste about 10 hours of my life and install these suckers, if any body had a set of BBK shorties or any shorties really and what they thought afer they put them on as far as sound and HP gain goes. I also bought an O/R x-pipe from PYPES and was wondering what anybody knew about sound and HP gain from this. Yeah I know I failed to do my research it was an impulse buy!!!

I have the pypes o/r x and it sounds awesome with my flows(click on my exhaust vid in sig) but it drones really bad at around 60-65mph. It will take some time to get used to, but I did feel a difference in the mid to high rpms. As far as the shorties go, I hear it will produce a different exhaust tone and gain as much as 1-2hp but of course it depend on the mods you already have.

BBK Shorty headers no gasket??

I was having another look at the BBK shorty headers I just purchased and realized that there are no new gaskets. Am I to use the stock original ones or did BBK and American Muscle screw me???

I don't see why it shouldn't have, I usually see gaskets and hardware included in all the header kits. You might want to contact AM about that. I can see why you jumped on the BBK headers for the price at AM If they don't come with them, they can be had for about 15-20 bucks.

I would get the new gaskets, it's a good idea to have them because your old ones are probably worn out with the stock exhaust manifolds and with the install your old ones mine get messed up during the process.

HUH? me or the tread starter? What forum is that? I frequent stangnet, Americanmuscleregistry, Mach1registry, & cafords...

I did ask about gaskets the other day & then got the longtubes installed the same day reusing the stock gaskets & hardware...

I have been told that the stock Ford gaskets are the best gaskets. I have used Fel-Pro with my longtubes and those worked great too.
