Beers Of Stangnet

Excellent brother.

It’s been about three years since I’ve brewed my last batch. I had to get rid of my ex before the next batch:D. She’s gone (but not forgotten) now:nice:.

I really need to get back into it though. An Imperial Stout is my absolute favorite stye. It seems the people in northeastern Oklahoma don’t like it that much. Our liquor stores have been on a stout blight filled in with every type of ipa known to man.

Imperial stouts take awhile and it might be almost springtime before I could enjoy it. Sometimes good things take awhile though, right?
I lived in Norman for three years and remember the liquor store blues, only being able to buy warm beer. I started my first experience brewing years ago, but took a break for 20 years, because my first wife said the smell made her sick when she was pregnant with our son. She's long gone and my current and forever wife doesn't have the same issues. I kept all my equipment and carted it around through 5 moves, because I knew I'd start up again one day. Six months to a year, before craft beer tastes perfect in my opinion. Rarely do mine after last that long though, lol. You're in the heart of cold weather and being stuck inside now, so what better time to start up again! I order my supplies/kits online through Northern Brewery, great prices and outstanding technical help, when needed.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to start up again, fussy ex isn't a factor and it's getting cold now in Oklahoma! I've always found that just about anything I brewed had to condition in the bottle a couple of months minimum to taste optimal. Definitely cheaper and faster to buy buy from the store, but like our Mustangs, it's labor of love! Here's my label for the Brunch Stout. I do up the label on a memory stick, run it up to Office Depot and have them print off enough for the batch on label paper, fancy, lol! Elmwood Hollow - Brunch Stout.webp

Ok, from Tupps Brewery out of Texas.

From their Full Grown series of imperial stouts. Full Grown Nick.

It‘s a full beer at 12.1 abv.

It says it has “spices” added, tastes like nutmeg to me. It’s ok as an imperial stout.

Here in our practically stout dry state it’s pretty dang wonderful to have a big beer that isn’t an ipa of some sort. The nutmeg flavor is a little funky though.....

Heck, I'd try it! :nice: I'm starting on the Christmas Ales now anyway, I'll try to watch for that one.
(Not sure if any of my local stores will have it, though...)

12.1 ABV though... wwhheeeeee!! :kmcoff:

Okie dokie, another Imperial Stout. This one is from Sierra Nevada and is simply an Imperial Stout. 10.2 abv.

Its their 2020 version and it doesn’t suck, not really following along with the 2020 script, are they?

It’s simply an Imperial Stout, and it is a good representation of the genre. I will buy again.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale- Git Yerself Sum! :D
More spices in the flavor than the Bell's, but still not overly strong. Honey, Cinnamon and Ginger. I notice the cinnamon in particular.
Will definitely buy again! :nice:

I'm not usually a Sam Adams drinker, and I find most "holiday" beers repugnant, but I was given one of these at a friend's house Friday night, and it was good enough I grabbed a second over my other choices. The flavor is kind of odd, but not at all unpleasant, and it was incredibly smooth and drinkable.

Do you know if that was part of a sampler pack?

And now for something completely different...

Complex flavor, not a "heavy" stout like Guinness. I think I can actually taste all 4 flavors in this one, which is rare for me. Might be too much for folks who actually have a good sense of taste! ;)
Overall: :nice:

An old Christmas regular tonight from the Thirsty Dog (which I always call the Parched Pooch!):
12 Dogs Of Christmas Ale! Made with honey and spices.
Very smooth and tasty, an old favorite! :)
