Best DOT drag tire for a 4 speed

I have dismal 60's with my 4 speed 65' stang. In addition to drag shocks, I also need to find a decent DOT drag tire.

It is my understanding that DOT radials are a poor choice and that I should use a bias ply instead.

Does anyone have a recommendation of what tire to run AND WHAT SIZE? My wheel wells have been slightly widened and I am open to either a 14" or 15 " tire. Don't want to tub the car.

This a street/strip car and the strip requires DOT's for my class.

What kinda of times have you run w/ this set up? My 65 2+2 has had poor 60's as well. best so far is a 2.26 on 215/60/14 bfg drag radials. I've looked into some true slicks. M%H racemasters looking appealing b/c they have them in a 14" so I wouldn't have to buy new rims. I've still got some tread on the bfg's for now...

2.56 60's, 14.24 sec/108.6 mph in the 1/4. Easily spins until 3rd gear. 6400 shifts.

Currently running older 25" tall bias ply F60x14 street tires.

Get yourself a set of M/T ET street drag radials. They are a new tire that Mickey Thompson came out with, and there are DAM NICE. I have driven in the rain with these, and not had a problem. They grip dam good comming out the hole. I had som BF T/A before, and I would just spin. With these, its BAM ! out the hole.

I run a 15x7 rim, and 235x15x60 tire. I have air shocks and Traction bars out back with the leafs, so I just put a little air in the shocks to raise it up, so I stop getting fender rub. Was launching on a back road for practice, and yeah sub 2.00 60fts here I come !

.... you don't want a drag radial up front.

Anyway, I would suggest a 255 or larger tire. I run 275/55/14's on my magnums and a 28x11.50x15 ET Drag on my prostars.

I will be switching to a 275/60/15 MT ET Street Radial this year, and they are my suggestion to run.
