Best Method

i do it with compressors but many like to jack the control arm instead.

Jerry - I would be :rlaugh: if I did not know that you are being completely serious. :hail2: to you and your suspension. :)

I had to unbolt the a arm from the k member when installing my Eibach drag springs. There was no way possible that they were going in even with a spring compressor the conventional way (unbolting strut, letting it hang down)... things were huge, and a PITA to install.

Dont put them back in, they are easy to get out. Install coilovers instead, simple but costly. I would not change the stock springs without going to coilovers. Ride becomes too harsh IMO. :notnice:

I bought Bullitts, I think the ride and handling will be fine with them.

i used an internal compressor (I dont have access to a clam compressor like Nick probably used at work). I did have to mod it a bit. I used a piece of pipe as a shim between the head of the compressor bolt and the compressor (or else the compressor bolt shank would bottom out in the frame before compression occurred) and I had to unbolt the butterflies (the hooks on the compressor) and manually insert them into the coils - then slide the compressor rod through. It was a pain on the first side but the second side went quicker. this was with stock vert springs.

But you want the best and quickest way, which is why i mentioned the jack under the control arm method above. that is likely gonna be quicker and easier (i have done this method, but not on a stang).

lowering springs would be a lot easier IMHO to install than stockers.

good luck with it.

I am pretty sure the Bullitts are a little bit lower than the stock springs, so hopefully that will make it a bit easier on the install portion of it.

Do you know what brand you have as the one I bought do not allow me to unbolt the butterfly hooks, they are 1 piece?

In the Ford Service manual they show you having to undo the A Arm after you compress the spring, so its a given that they will have to come down after you relieve the pressure.

Sorry - No idea on the spring compressor brand. It was a loaner from Autozone. I have been meaning to make a clam compressor - i think it would be useful. :)

I might just use the jack to remove them. and then use my Compressor to compress my new springs and band them with something, remove the compressor and then install them that way.
