big upgrades

i will let you guys run wild with this finally paid off car managed to save 10k for upgrades need some opinions car has exhaust intake cold air pulleys want to put together package like blower cams heads fuel system just not sure what to look for
car is weekend driver and sometimes during week never seen track just bought full g-trac steeda supspension any help greatly appreciated ps car is 01 gt 35k miles tell me your ideas :SNSign:

with 10k you could build a good bottom end with a KB or a TT setup

you can get a good centri blower and IC and build the bottom end. realistically $10K will not build you a REALLY fast car. i have around $10K in my engine and fuel upgrades, not even counting the trans and driveline.

what are your power goals?

$10K will get you a nice turbo system but not a built bottom end to go with it.

Go with a power adder. N/A is expensive and you can make a lot more power with a blower or turbo set up.

Grammar lessons that include use of punctuation? Kidding. KB and forged internals would be awesome. Or even save the money for another nice ride. 10K is a lot of coin.

First off, make sure you want to invest 10k on something you wont get a return on.

Im serious. I am ALL for having a bad ass, fast ride. Just make sure your other priorities are taken care of first. If its extra coin to play with, or you just don't mind spending it...

Definatly go forged bottom end, and a power adder of choice. Skip all the NA crap if you REALLY want to go fast for the best $/hp ratio.

You can do a pretty budget build if you want. Buy a pre-assembled bottom end from a company like Modular Powerhouse, CHP, MMR, so on... transfer your heads, use stock cams and all that junk. Add a blower, turbo, or nitrous and whalah... get her tuned up and rip up the road.

all priorities are covered own home married no kids dogs well taken care of wife is happy I THINK? so been thinking bout this since i bought car i know all about not getting return on money put into vehicle have 6k in chrome and 300 tire kit on bike sitting in garage that i rode 500 miles last year not worried work hard and legal for it all just wanted to know what people have already used and liked thanks for reply

With that much cash, you can do it right--build that bottom end and boost it up!!!

I agree with building the bottom end, but I say screw the KB and buy yourself the Tork Tech Inc. kit. You'll make more power from the get go and you can spend the extra $1,000 you save on the Tork Tech (since its generally that much cheaper compared to the KB) on a tubular K-member/coil over kit. That way you'll be able to bring the front end weight back to stock and increase the handling a little to boot.

I think being on the first people to use the tork tech would be sweet, those sound awesome and make great power.

There are already quite a few that are running them and thus far all are walking away with great results. The last one I was speaking to Ron about was putting down 435rwhp/455lbs ft/tq with only exhaust work at only 8psi. Thats DAMN impressive!!!

Tork Tech's kit does really seem to be impressive and it looks good too.

I might be the only one to think this but if I were you I would sell what you have and maybe save a little more and get an 03-04 Cobra. Its a way better platform to start off with and everything was built and made for power. A 2V GT is just not made for much over 450rwhp on anything not just the motor. It is EXTREMELY expensive to build a fast GT (low 11s or faster) pretty much every single component on the car needs to be upgraded to do that. A cobra needs exhaust, pulley, blower ported, CAI, and tune and you got a 11sec car no problem and thats maybe $1500-$2000 in mods. Maybe build the IRS a little and you're good to go.

I just look back at how much I spent on my car and think I could have a KB Cobra sitting in my garage.

If you're wanting a great all around street car, then a warmed over Cobra is the way to go, but don't be fooled into thinking you'll run 10.8's in an '03-'04 Cobra for any less money than you've sunk into your GT. Getting into the low-12's/high-11's might not be so hard, or expensive to accomplish with the Cobra package that Ford has laid out, but running mid/high-10's or faster is gonna kill your wallet even quicker than it with a 2V GT.

At that power level the only original component on the Cobra that's really left is going to be the intercooler core and the long block.....unless you plan on using nitrous to make up the power deficiency. You'll still need to revamp the entire induction, fuel, ignitions and exhaust system as well as all of the supporting components in between. And you'll spend 3-times as much beefing up the IRS at that power level than you will doing a solid rear axle set up on a GT.

Don't get me wrong, the Cobra is the best SN95 Mustang built, but with all of that added weight and 4-wheel independent suspension, it was never designed to be a drag car. I just happened to do it very well as a side effect of all of the power it was given from the factory.

If you're going to built a 10-second car from scratch, that’s main purpose is to go fast in a strait line, you're probably better off to do so with a GT as your base platform......at least as far as bang for the buck goes.
