bigger tires

Eastwood.com sells a cool tool for this check it out.

You might have to take your quad shocks off, and possible re-route your tail-pipes. I'm sure somebody here had done this and will chime in.

A little sledge hammer mallet might work for the inner fender apron.

i have a 88 gt with 5 lug conversion and i wanna get 17x10.5 rims in the rear and i know i have to modify rear inner fenders can i do it how do i do it :jester:

Did you do the 5-lug conversion yourself? If so, where did you buy the kit from? I want to convert my '89 GT to 5-lug so I can put 18 in. Chrome Bullitts on.

I was trying to do the same thing with my 91 Gt since i already have the five lug kit. But they tell me that it is a lot of work, so i am going to sale my 10.5 wheels and try to get 17X9 all around to avoid the trouble.

the 5 lug swap is not that hard. Just get something like Moser replacement 8.8 axles with a 5 lug bolt for the rear. And a 5 lug caliper from any aftermarket seller and a few new bearings for the front and your done. 5 Lug is easy dude.

For the larger wheels your probably loose the quad shocks. They will be way in the way. If you have aftermarket LCAs in the rear you probably will not notice any difference in wheel hop. Youll have to roll the fenders lips. No big deal if you read up here and use the techiniques posted by guys who have done it. Then the exhaust pips. Thats more of a shop work type thing. Depending on your wheel offset, you might ot not have to do it. But chances are youll have to have a muffler shop reroute the tail pipes a lil. No biggy tho.
Good luck.

It can be done but not many people will tell you how to do it, just that is hard. i had been wondering myself as well. I just went with 17x9 with 275 in the rear here is a pic of a notch with deep dish bullits
