what would a good blower cam and head combo be? it'll be running a track heat intake w/a vortech s-trim. I was thinking maybe TW heads and an Ed Curtis grind, but I'm not sure. probably around 1600 can go into the head/valvetrain

thanks guys

So u got another stang huh? What year and (i'm bias) Yes TFS, and Yes ed curtis. Are u going to port the trick flows or keep 'em box stock? I know alot of people are going to AFR but like i said im bias. Im going to get a dyno soon so maybe that will help you out some.

TFS or AFR will suit you well. Since you only have about 1600 to spend, I'd lean toward the TFS and Ed Curtis cam. Either way, it's going to make a lot of power

Nah, I didn't get another car, this stuff is for my buddy's 91 Notch. Should be pretty sweet when it's all said and done. The motor should be out today and then we'll probably start doing some wire hiding and what not. Glad to hear that I was right on the head/cam combo. Depending on how much it'll cost, there might be some mild port work done on the heads, but that's not for a while. I'll probably start a thread with some progress pictures. Later

I'd add the boost first - he may find that it works well enough that he won't feel he needs to add the heads and cam.

Should the stock heads be gone through? I think the motor may've been rebuilt or atleast the upper intake was taken off at some point because it's got a pretty new felpro gasket on it. So you think that the blower with the stock cam and heads and the track heat will be good enough? I was tryin to tell him that he should decide on either HCI or the blower and maybe something else. He'll probably crap himself with either one. I know it's annoying, but do you have any estimates on power figures or times? Assume it's a stock motor but with the blower, intake, and exhaust. Thanks

There are LOTS of people out there putting down 300-350 rwhp with a blower on a sound, stock block/heads/cam. New head gaskets and fasteners are probably a good idea, but it sounds like that's been done already. Just add the boost and see what he thinks. And the supercharger is the easiest part of the install anyway - much less time consuming/complex than the heads/cam swap.

Alright, we'll just throw the blower and intake on for now.

You will not see the true potential of THAT intake with out a head/cam change...

well, I'm pretty sure he'll get used to this setup and then next year want better than stock heads and cam..I think it might be a bit too drastic of a change for him, as it would a lot of people.

Excelent heads so far. cam and heads make killer power 3k-(dont know yet because i havent pushed it that hard) but i smoke the tires in 2nd if i punch it from 3k. Thats with big heads, non optimal cam, and low compression ratio. Not to mention a 75mm tbody. I have a feeling the 180's would be killer heads on a nice n/a 306 with 10:1 compression and a good cam.

Yeah but then it will be a even bigger pain in the ass to change the heads and cam later..

LOL, I got sidetracked.
The PTL heads flow very good numbers for 180cc intake runners, have 2.02 1.60 valves, and come in 58cc and 64cc. I have the 64cc heads. When I get a blower I will tell you how it performs, lol. (A year or so) I can only tell you what I feel right now n/a

I just don't know what to tell my friend now. I guess we'll just do the blower and intake for now, and then tear it all apart again some time next year if he decides he wants more power.
