guys i got a set of blower cams for my gt, because i am going to eventually do a blower. i am aware that i will be taking a hp loss compaired to regular cams. i felt ok about that considering that once i get the blower things will be all set.

today my friend told me that if i leave the blower cams on an unblown car it could damage the engine.

i will have the cams in the car fo about 3 years before the blower goes on....is there a problem with this that i was unaware of? no one ever said anything about this. can this damage my engine?

if it is a mild blower cam it wont hurt anything, like comp 270 or vt stage 2, and it will actually make alot of hp n/a as well, comp cams 270's are what im getting because i plan to supercharge later just like you, they are a great blower cam, and also make more power on a n/a car then most n/a cams :nice:

I see no reason they would harm you engine. Did you give him the cams specs when he said this or did you just say "blower cams"

If he told you a cam was going to hurt you engine without seeing the specs then he has no data to base his opinion on.

i told him it was a very unagressive custom blower cam. he said to just check it out. he told me to do more research. i i told fox lake to make me a blower cam but wanted just enough to utilize my head porting. very unagressive. i figured it would only be a little different then the stock pi cams.

I think what he is saying is bs. I am not expert so I would just call a cam manufacturer if you are paranoid now.

SHM blower cams just have a tad more duration on the exhaust. that is not going to harm your engine. I have seen people do what you are doing.

because im so broke after buying the heads and cams it is going to take me 3 yrs. to get the money for the blower. if it is not going to hurt anything, why would i wait to get the blower? why wouldnt i want the power from the heads and cams now to enjoy for the next couple of years?

heads, cams, then blower, and still on stock internals?
might want to keep saving money.

thanks guys. i dont think my way is not practical. i will be getting much better power when the blower does go on. i wont have to change the cams again, i think thats pretty practical.

also there will be a built engine going in between this head/cam install and the blower. that is why it is going to be so long before the blower finally goes on.....thanks again guys all have been helpfull!

i agree with them, and i'm also getting cams soon and can't decide what to choose the comp 270's or the vt II's or just go with stageI in either of them

it will, but what's the point if your not going to use anything to it's full potential. I guess I do things in a more practical manner.
It's practical now because he'll still benefit from the cams, and he will also not have to worry about tearing the heads down again when he does get the blower. Makes sense to me.
