okay, so i blew my motor a month ago. it's sitting at my local mustang performance shop (untouched for a month ) but that's besides the point. so i need to get other's feelings. my plan is to forget the nitrous and i'm gonna go blower. i'm going to order a DSS shortblock. my parents are going to have to loan me the money for the motor which will have the paid back over a 4 month period. so the super mod motor is $3700 + shipping. the pro mod is $2900 + shipping. the cut off HP for the pro mod is 550. the super is like 850. should i be worring about the extra horses with money i don't really have in the first place? should i hold out, or just get the cheaper motor and run the 550 horses?

DSS isn't highly recommended from what I've read.

VT has a sale right now...stroker iron block 302 for $3400 and includes:
new iron block
forged 3.750" stroker crank
Eagle forged rods
Custom CP forged pistons
file fit plasma moly ringset
ARP main studs
new High Volume oil pump and pick up
new rear seal plate
computerized balancing
professional assembly
spintested before delivery

Way better product for the money. Or, you could go with a forged, big bore 324 Darton wet sleeved Teksid block, but you have to sell your kidney first

Give VT a call and they will hook you up.All you have to do is a google search and you will see that the biggest problem with VT is getting the product because they are so busy. They are one of the top modular engine builders in the country.

Depends on what you put inside of it.

Also depends on the tune. A fully built engine with a poor tune resulting in detonation won't last long.

The GT sportsman shortblock is good for 700 rwhp.Pretty stout for a street/strip car.

I think the stroker block sale is still ongoing for September. The regular shortblock sale was over last month.
