Box In Front Passenger Side Of Engine Bay?

what is the box called that is in the engine bay on the passenger side on the framerail. it has a vacuum line and runs a line to the fuel tank.it looks like its in that bad of shape that it probably doesn't work, is it necessary? i just pulled my motor out last night and plan to clean up my engine bay. so i am looking for things to get rid of that i do not need. there is no smog or egr i deactivated both of those in my tune and got rid of both of them. it is not a daily driver so i dont care about the egr saving me gas.

From what I can tell it is an emissions device that puts fuel vapors back into the engine.. Sorta like egr but for gas vapors instead of unburnt fuel. I found out it is called the charcoal canister.

Yep charcoal canister. If you delete it you will need a vented gap.

Ok.. Is that only if I plug the hole in the top of the gas tank? Can I just vent the tank with the line that is already there?

only if yoiu want to vent the vapors into the engine bay.

I wouldn't leave it in the engine bay.. I could find a more suitable place to leave it vent..

Your car will stink if you vent it directly to the atmosphere.

Not to mention become increasingly hard on fuel. Just leave it where it is.
