I expect 70 000 miles in the course of maybe 6 years out of a 347, Can somebody direct me in a good kit ? or does anybody know of one that has the oil consumption issue problem fixed?

and a good custom cam grinder?

Do you want a cast or forged kit? What are your future plans? I can help you out ;)

Mike P, get those supports in the car!...lol I like TFS they make some nice stuff and the casting on their manifolds is one of the better out IMO. The4 Highports are very nice along with the R's. I've been busying working on customers cars, building motors, my side business has taken off like gangbusters (I'll soon be a LLC) which is great but my car is just sitting. I hope to be back on mine with-in November so I can finally get the chassis cert'd. Nice numbers, there is a lot left.....

I like spinning my blower by hand, it still makes noise :rlaugh:

mike,
from what your saying, it really doesnt matter how much they are doing to hurt you as to what they are in your projected budgetd wise. are they going to hurt... yes and no. are they going to perform well, yep. are they the best... not exactly. if there is anyway that you can scroung around for that $400 to get them done a bit, they will work fine. You will see alot of your power in a tune anyway.

:nice: Mike just to add to what Nate said I'd wait a little longer and save the money to do it right.

Wait until it spins on that motor :hail2: LOL

Yeah....I can't wait :spot: wait to you see the other tricks I got up my sleeve, the motor will be badass and should make a lot of power, and get me deep in the 8's.................of course after I figure out how to drive the car all over again.

You guys are right about doing it right. That $400 port job becomes an $800 job with you add in springs, seals, shipping, valve job. I am going to check into a local guy for some head work and see what he says. I just gotta find the phone number.

90notch, ed didn't say what rpm he achieved that power at.

Very true, I have a lot more in my combo then I also planned but it will be worht it in the end. Pay more now and be happy, it is better then tearing it all back apart and spending even more money later on.

nice combo

my block is stock and i used ported and polished tfs twisted wedge heads and with stock injectors im making 291 rwhp....400 is high..120mph is doable...and 65oo rpm if you get really good valve springs it will be fine...and i have to correct you when u say i wouldnt be driving at 6500 all the time only when needed...wait till u do the work on the car and drive it..man once that thing is broken in the speed and higher rpms are so addictiong youll wonder what you ever did without it and then in a couple of months it will seem slow to you good luck with the combo and make sure the tune is proper.. its all in the tune

Rick 91GT - I plan on spraying a 347 and pushin the blocks limits

so just forged pistons is the only thing that is realy needed

Prefer one of the better piston out there the crank and rods can be cast, just dont realy want a oil consumption issue and I want 70-75k if not more out of the engine with box stock heads TW and a decent cam

I know I'm late but I'm switching from AFR 185's to older TFS Street Heats. The AFR's were ok but I've done better with TFS heads. The twisted wedge is just about the best head there is for an intermediate car (i think.....). The AFR's are pieces of art. The fit and finish is great and I guess they flow really well on the bench. My particular set worked ok but came with really crappy valve springs. I got valve float with an F-Cam at 6k.
