Hello- My brothers 2001 Bullitt is making noise from the brakes, it's a real bad clunking sound, so I took a look at it and with the tire off I can move the caliper forward and rearward with ease, it hits both the front side of the braket, is this because the pads are warn down too much(witch they do need replacing) or is there a problem with the caliper it self, or a third choice is there any parts missing, I.E is there anything that should be there to keep the caliper from moving forward and rearward.

Thanks

Get it fixed a.s.a.p, I almost lost it 3yrs ago just because of an issue like that, when I was naive to cars, the mechanic that worked on my brakes didn't use the proper hardware almost resulting in me almost loosing it.

Yea the car isn't being driven at this time untill it's fixed. I am just not sure if I need to do a regular brake job or if there are parts missing. I have done brake jobs before just not on the newer mustangs.
