Now that I've got your attention, I'll explain the thread title in hopes of not being burned at the cross :ban: :D

As some of you know, I currently drive a 2001 Mustang GT Bullitt and just got a new job. I love my Bullitt but been doing some serious debating lately. Right now my car is about as quick as a stock C5 Vette but I'd like to get into something with better handling without having to completely redo the entire suspension. :bang:

I've begun to seriously think about selling my car and getting a 99 Corvette but I'm also considering a few options.

1) Keep the Bullitt and build the suspension and add a supercharger later on (1.7KB or Centrifugal).
2) Keep the Bullitt "as is" and get a starter bike...then upgrade to a late model 600cc.
3) Sell the Bullitt and buy a "new to me" Vette.

I know that I'll get mostly biased opinions here but I've asked the same question on another forum so it should all balance out between the good and bad comments from both sides.

Not sure your budget, but have you considered a new Z06? I know this is a Ford forum but man those things rock. And yes, they are expensive but very inexpensive compared to what is in it's league.

Main reason I haevn't considered a Terminator is because of insurance. I haven't bothered to check on it but I'm pretty sure it will be higher. I may try calling today just to confirm it though.

The Vette is one of the options I was considering because it would actually cost less to insure than my Bullitt, lol!

I'd love to have a C5 Z06, but the car will be my daily driver and I want to move into a bigger apartment as well in a few monthes. I'm still pretty young and have plenty of time to move up to the "true" high performance cars that are out there. I figured a 99ish or so Vette would be a decient step up in overall performance without having to build an almost comletely new car. Even if I get the Chevy, I'll still probably add I/H/E and maybe some cosmetic mods over the course of owning the car.

Keep the comments coming though, I'm trying to go into this decision with a clear head and as much info and options as possible. :)

If he is talking about a 99 C5, his budget is ceratainly not $65K + if you can find one for a new Z06. :D

But in all seriousness I would get the C5. A vette is a better overall car than a Mustang, especailly the 2V. The vette will have more power than your bolted GT (I would assume), would handle better, and most likely have a targa which is sweet.

In a few years I am probably going to go for a C5 Z06 when they get into my price range for a weekend beater.

My buddy has an '03 or '04 model Vette. It's his wife's actually. He has a built '90ish model for himself with over 10k invested in the motor and it's a wildabeast!

The newer Vette is very smooth running with lots of power on tap to be completely stock (except a Borla catback). The older one is temperemental because of all the mods.

For a daily driver, the newer one would be extremely nice to own. I had an old '85 Vette w/ the 350 TPI engine. It was okay for it's time, but nothing compared to these newer ones. The only thing I never liked about my Vette was feeling like I was gonna die when I got near a semi truck. Never felt the same way in my Camaro or Mustang, maybe I just thought too much about it when I owned the Vette knowing it was all fiberglass. Truth is, more than likely your probably toast regardless of which vehicle you'd be in.

My opinion the bullitt has a lot more character to it than a vette ever will have...and people can debate on looks but the bullitt looks 10x better than any vette will....and sound better as well.
I know some people in here **** on the 2v but you can make it fast as you will ever want it...I would keep what you have I would love to own a bullitt one of these days such badass cars.
Not to mention its usually a bunch of pricks and old men that own vettes as well so that cuts down on a lot of fun

I would go for the 'vette.

In all honesty, I hate Fords. The only ones I like are the Mustang GT and a truck (every now and then).

I'm not really biased toward any auto maker, just some of the cars that they make.

I love 'vettes and mustangs. If I had the chance when I was in the market last year, I would've gone for a '98-'99 Vette, but they were too expensive for me to even bother with.. plus they're only 2 seaters :(

Just think it over and do what you REALLY want :nice:

i have to agree about the looks of the mustang gt and bullett compaired to the 99 vette. the vette is not treally that exciting looking. the new c6 and any zo6 is a different story.

other then that its just a plain jane vette. bullett is a cool car to own. i always liked them for some reason, very clean looking.

i considered getting rid of my gt and getting a zo6 just last month. however, i love the looks of my car and i will make it one of a kind. also like the idea of being the little gt........thats built and blown.

the 2 valve is fine just have to put some money in it. corvering is another story but who cares about that. that just eats up tires faster. even if i had a great handling car i wouldnt know it as i go around mose turns normally.

you also have the intake that none of the gt have.

There really isnt a heck of alot of appearance difference between the C5 Z06 and a standard C5 with the fixed roof. The gray scoops on the side, mesh grille, and wheels.

I like the mustangs, maybe not as fanatical as some....but to me the Vette looks sweet too!

One thing to keep in mind is the maintenance costs of the vette being more than the stang.

well to me its those little things that make the difference, and also knowing its a z06. that in my book is the pinnicle of performance for the dollar. i cant lie, the z06 is the best performance car for the money. especially a used c5 z06. thats why i was only considering trading mine for the zo6, i rather have my gt then a regular vette.

anyway, i got off topic. one thing to consider even though i said id pick the bullett and supercharge it, is if you are going to use either car for a daily driver then the bullett with the blower might comprimise the reliability a bit.
