I have a 90 Coupe with that is a conversion car 4cyl to 302. I got the motor out of a wrecked 90 LX, AOD car. It only has 45 k on it. My question is this...I know there is a difference between the cams for an AOD, and for a 5-Speed car. What are they, and could this be holding my car back? I am interested in getting a new cam...maybe a B303 or equivelent....just curous about what is currently in there.

According to the haynes and chilton's manuals the lift on all HO camshafts from 86 on is .442" intake and exhaust. There is no mention of an AOD specific cam. The only difference might be in duration. There is no information on the cam duration in the book so I cannot say for certain. I was always under the impression that both AOD and 5 speed cars had the same cam. I know that there are other difference, i.e computer, gear ratios and such but I thought that the engine and internals were the same. I could be wrong though, its been know to happen:D
