Rekokulous said:
The duration of a cam is the degree's that it is opening a valve. More duration equals more flow because the valve is open longer.

The lift of a cam is how tall the lobe is and equates to how much it will open the valve. If you have more lift your valve is opening more allowing more flow. See a pattern yet.

So obviously they way a performance cam gives you more power is it increases the duration and lift allowing more flow.

I can't tell you what the optimal duration/lift is for you because I'm not a cams expert, but I bet VT could. Or some one else on the forum.

Yeah everything u said is everything that I've already figured. I just wanted to make sure because someone asked me what exactly cams do and thats what I told them, but then it had me wondering if i was 100% correct. Because they were kind of wondering how the valves stay open longer, they were like "well dont they open when u accelerate? And if you're stopping accelerating, how do they stay open longer? I dont get the whole 'staying open' thing" So i was like: uhhhhh

I've been reading the install on these Cams from: http://www.modulardepot.com/?show=articlesdet&aid=39 , and I must say it sounds a bit rough for me. I'm mechanically enclined, but there is just too much stuff under the hood to unhook I think. Steps 3, 4 & 5 confuse me right off the bat...

3. Disconnect PCV valve and vacuum line.
4. Disconnect electrical connectors on coil on plugs, injectors, throttle body, IAC valve, ground plugs, fuel pressure sensor, EGR.
5. Place some paper towl under the fuel lines and use the fuel line tools to disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail. Wrap exposed ends with plastic such as Glad-Wrap to keep fuel from spilling...

I dont know what/where the vacuum line is, nor what an IAC valve is, or where the fuel pressure sensor is located I'm sure this sounds halarious to some but i was hoping to do this install myself sooooo now I'm wondering how much it will cost to get installed.

How much is a good or average price for CAMS & Springs to get installed? While my mechanic is at it, i'll probably have him add some UnderDrive Pulleys on as well since we'll be taking those off i believe during this install.

These pics on modular depot help me out a lot but does anyone have more/better install instructions for cams (specifically VT Cams & springs)???

Also what engine is my 2002 GT, its a Romeo right?

Ok thanks a lot

For clarification. The 02 GT uses the Romeo Engine & Heads, correct?

What years were the Windsors?
