I got my cam put in last night, and aligned it so the key on the crank and the dowl pin on the cam (also the dot on the cam sprocket) were facing each other. (cam dowl pin and dot on cam sprocket facing down.) When degreeing it this morning it appears that at TDC (intake stroke) the dowel pin on the cam along with the dot on the sprocket is actually facing straight up instead of straight down. So the cam is oriented 180 from what I understood it should be. This is OK, isn't it? If its 180 degrees like this the piston is in the same place. I degreed it like this and everything checked out, so I'm ready to proceed as soon as I get some feedback, thanks.

What do you mean on how many rotations? When the cam is at TDC for the intake stroke its aligned with everything facing straight up, and I was under the impression that it should be down.

the crank will turn twice for every one time the cam turns so every one turn the dots will be off with the cam dot facing up you are not at tdc

Zackly..... 2 to 1 !! the cam will "show 180 out " and the piston on TDC ( actually BDC on degree wheel)) and then rotate the engine more and the dots will line up... the piston will be up and you'll be at TDC!! cool?? Just make sure the No.1 is up and the mark on the cam gear ( and the cam pin) is down , in line with the mark on the crank gear and the key way being UP and your rocking!! IF>>> the dist is installed with the cam 180 out... have fun, cause the challange will be a fun one!!

Just me..........................
