I pulled the camshaft from the block yesterday as a part of my rebuild. I was told when I bought the car that it might have a new cam in it. lol, so that didn't help me much. Anyway, the cam has "1 backwards E 2 8" marked on the rear side of it. No other markings. It's an '86 5.0 Thanks for any help

Damn, nobody knows! Well I guess the next logical question is, what kind of markings do the stock and aftermarket cams have? In other words, is there any way of me telling if this is the stock cam? I don't have any of the tools to measure the specs at the moment, but if I need to I'll go find a friend who has em.

Take it to your local machine shop and they will be able to tell you the specs. BTW stock specs are .444/.444. For LSA you will need a degree wheel. You can either use to "v" blocks and use a dial indicator to measure lift. Or use a micrometer and measure the portion beween the heel and the lift portion and then measuer the heal and lift and subtract the two.

I have several "alphabet" cams and they all had E303 or B303 or whatever stamped right into the back of the cam. The cranes I have used also had 2020 or 2030 stamped in the same spot. Yours kinda sounds like the what I have seen stamped on the stock cams. Do you know that its an aftermarket cam for sure?
