my mustang only has 4 factory speakers? two in the dash in 2 in the rear it dont have them in the door!

The 3 pc harness from crutchfield shows a small plug. That plug applies to the 93 that has the blue data cable like mine had.

Also, if you go to crutchfield.com, there is a link on the left hand side that will even give you a pdf of the instructions of how to wire the adapters up. Just plug in your year and make, model.. Then go to the link to the right that says what is included in installation. Then from those parts, you can get to the pdf of the instructions. Should help some, I hope.

ok my factory harness in my car is not for a preinum sound and has no amp, this is why it only has 8 wires on the spkr plug and there is no wire for the amp on the factory side of the power plug.

Hey Ryan. Have you followed the speaker harness all the way back as far as it wil go? Feeling for any other plugs?
Honestly though If the oem radio works my guess is some thing is wrong with the radio or the install plugs.

The funny thing is My 93 had premium sound and it only has 8 wires also.
I think the 6 speaker set up has 2 speakers wired in series somewhere else down the line. The amp harness had only 8 wires also..

Are you using a test light? Did you bump 2 wires together by accident? I have had that exact same thing happen to me before. I personally think you are wiring it wrong (could be new wires spliced into the car and different colors) and are frying your stereos.

i think you are hung up on this amp thing and its not the issue. if the f150 unit that was in there was working on 2 plugs then he only needs those two for this deck to work. ford has had some funky odd ball connectors, ive done tons of them and have had to go back for a new harness quite a few times. have you been pulling on the wires at all? done anything with the speakers? im wondering if one of the speaker wires has worn through causing a short on a pice of metal in the car. that would put it in a protect mode asap i would think.

I think you are wiring terribly Go get a solder gun at walmart for 5 bucks and some solder and maybe you can get some good connections. My 12 yr old sister knows no to just twist them together!
Not trying to be critical, but they're right, Ryan. Give up the twisty-tie method and invest in some wire nuts, crimp connectors, and/or a soldering gun. You're going to have more headaches with loose connections by twisting n' taping your wires than you already are with trying to resolve this whole issue.
The Best Buy wiring harnesses and radio brackets I've seen available are generally crap, IMO. I've actually had better luck with that other brand of brackets/harnesses available for sale through Wal-Mart. Go stop by there sometime and look at THEIR harnesses for Ford Premium Sound and you'll see the extra plug we're referring to, which I STILL say is the case with your car - you have the amp bracket right there, dude, so you obviously had an amp attached to it at some point and, thus, had the premium sound package. IIRC, they cost around $9.
Your only other alternative, if you insist on refusing to use the stock harnesses, is to run all-new wiring to all of your speakers and power sources ... which is WAY more of a PITA than just figuring out how to use the stock harnesses. Again, bear in mind that you will need more than just a power and ground wire, as you need a constant battery supply wire (non-switchable source) to keep your radio presets and audio settings and whatnot on your CD player.
