Can I use brake cleaner to clean the insides of my wheels, or would that be too harsh on the metal?

I'll be getting 2 new wheels on my car, but the other two will be the originals. The insides will be mismatched, so I want to clean those up when I get the car back.

6 years of buildup plagues them...hopefully it won't be too bad to get through.

WD-40 works good

Brillo pad.

It seems harsh, but i've used it dozens of times and no damage at all.
:stupid: I had a set of 15 year old Pony wheels that had never been cleaned. I just soaped them ip amd used the green side of a dish sponge and when I was done they looked like brand new :nice:
