Cleaning insides of wheels

Can I use brake cleaner to clean the insides of my wheels, or would that be too harsh on the metal?

I'll be getting 2 new wheels on my car, but the other two will be the originals. The insides will be mismatched, so I want to clean those up when I get the car back.

6 years of buildup plagues them...hopefully it won't be too bad to get through.

i used wheel cleaner on mine and it made it look almost brand new and i didnt even try that hard lol..do that and put a good elbow into it and youll be good to go

I had a set of 15 year old Pony wheels that had never been cleaned. I just soaped them ip amd used the green side of a dish sponge and when I was done they looked like brand new

i used some simple green and a brush and it worked pretty good.



edit: i forgot to add, i tried using the Dawn electric rotating brush dildo thing and some simple green and it actually worked really well. i dont know if they still sell it.

X2. It does seem harsh, but it won't hurt painted wheels. I've used the soap filled brillo pads and I've had some nasty wheels come out almost like new.
