clocking altenator on saleen sc install

if i read right the reason for clocking the altenator on the saleen super charger install is the hot wire tends to rub if you dont.if this is the case why not just get a longer hot wire?if this isnt the reason why do you have to do it and does it have to be done.

it's a valid question

i guess the best way to say it is, if
you have plenty of clearance between
the alternator connector and your
air intake tube, then you don't need to
do it.
