Ever since I have got my car I have never really been happy with the clutch but am starting to single it out lately. I have no clue what is in it but know it is heavy, but has **** all for feel, doesnt kick out at the end. It doesnt slip but it doesnt lock up on hard shifts(2.73's prolly dont help) but what I'm getting at is it isnt anything special.

The problem is off the start sometimes if I slip it a little or let it out too fast it seems to shimmy a bit. Like grab then let go repeatably really fast, it almost feels like the back end hops up and down rapidly. Sometimes it is even unavoidable besides pushing the clutch back in and starting with a little more RPM.

I am starting to think it is something to do with the clutch glazing over now though. I have done it a few times now where if I really slip the clutch hard on purpose, like slow in second let the revs up and keep a little pressure(I know this is VERY bad for clutch life) the problem will go away for a week or so of calm driving. Is it possible it wasn't broken in properly? Regardless I think Ill replace it this winter but any ideas?

Sounds like it's time for a center force II or a King Cobra, i just bought the King Cobra for 225 from my local speedshop... not too much, than havin someone put it in i dunno how much.... gettin a new clutch can never hurt anything, so even if its not ur clutch, than at least you'll know u have a new clutch....
How many miles are on your clutch??

Not sure on the milage on it but Im pretty sure it has lots of material left, picks up about 1/2 inch off the floor. I just recently helped a buddy but a SPEC clutch in his 2000 GT, really strong clutch, and suggestions on them in a fox?

I like your glazed idea. Back in the day we would do a burnout to help burn off some of the glaze. :D
I would not do this without having another clutch ready to go.

It does sound like clutch time.

Clutch chatter seems to be present...a King Cobra clutch would be nice for you for the price. www.buyfordracing.com sells them for $170 bucks I believe. If you want to spend about $100 bucks more for a CF Stage II you get a softer pedal and more grabbing power...

I have liked each...

opinions? yes. Stay away.

Also, that "slamming" into the next gear feels badass, but wreaks havoc for any t5. Spec's are harsh onoff switches, and are really rough on the trannies.

also, if you're looking for a firmer shift, you'll def not get it with the 2.73 gears.

It's not possible to burn off glazing. Every time you slip the clutch disc, you overheat the disc. Overheating the disc via slipping it boils the chemicals inside the material, which rise to the top of the friction material, hence glazing the disc over. The more you slip your clutch, the worse it will get.

It does sound like you've got some chatter issues combined with glazing. Baby it, and it could last for a while.

btw, specs (especially stage 1's) are famous for chatter. It's just my opinion though, and with any purchase, do your research, and best of luck.
