OK, I have narrowed my clutch kit choices down to three brands, but being new to the fox bodies I need some help from those who have had more experience w/this. My engine is stock right now and will only see bolt-on modifications w/possibly a base kit paxton 6psi supercharger and nothing more. I am not looking to teardown the enging to do the HCI or anything like that. I just want a fun daily driver and those mods will give me that. That being said, I am looking at the centerforce clutches, the King Cobra clutch, and the Spec clutches. Out of these which do you guys think would be best for my application? I don't want a really hard clutch pedal, so whatever is sufficient for my mods will be plenty for me. If your choice is one of the centerforce or spec clutches please let me know which stage # you are recommending. Thanks in advance.

So basically what I am between now is the King Cobra clutch kit and the Centerforce Dual Friction clutch kit. My question is, shouldn't the King Cobra hold up just fine with the types of mods I will be doing? Because it is quite cheaper then the Centerfoce.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far. Is $160 including shipping for the King Cobra good? It includes the pilot bearing, alignment tool, throw out bearing, clutch disk and pressure plate.

Alright so I'll probably be purchasing that clutch kit soon. Now do you guys think it is wise to go ahead and swap out my flywheel? It's an '89 w/91000 original miles. I don't know if the flywheel has ever been replaced by the previous owner. Was wondering if I should just take it out and get it resurfaced or just replace it while I'm in there? Also, if I should replace it am I supposed to be purchasing the 28oz balance or the 50oz? It will be a steel flywheel if I replace it.

BTW the King Cobra clutch kit that I am being sold for $160 shipped is made by Valeo. I believe it comes in a Valeo box as well, not in the Ford Racing boxes. Does that matter or are they the exact same thing? I was told that Valeo is the manufacturer of the King Cobra clutch kit so it's the same thing just without the Ford Racing brand name. Please let me know if this is correct or if I should steer away from it. Thanks.

It's the same clutch. Valeo makes the clutch for ford.
I've used one that was stamped FORD and the Valeo one and they were the same, the Valeo chattered a couple times when it was new but after a few thousand miles it was good.

SPierce is correct. Valeo is the OEM supplier for many high-end Italian exotics too - good stuff IMHO.

Any organic disk will take a little bed-in time and can chatter a bit in the meantime.

Get a King cobra clutch. Great for a bolt on dd car. Had 2 and they're great. Take a lot of abuse and the price is good too. On another note, I have a spec stage 3 in another mustang. Hits the tires, drivetrain, and susp really HARD. Destroyed my trans in 5 passes at the track.
