It will save you some gas and wont hurt the car, the only reason in some areas it says no engine braking is so that in case of emergency you can stop, turn, speed up, etc more efficiently and safer. I would leave the car on because turning a car on and off wastes more fuel than just idleing. Not goinglittle vto hurt your car and if you are worried that its going to restrict fuel flow somehow hit the gas a little every once in a while. lol

so who told you that? they lied.
no engine braking means trucks can't use their jake brake because it's loud as hell. In my area it's typically on county or state roads that have houses and commercial truck traffic.

Leave it in gear cause if the engine were to stall with a 5spd then you loose steering, brakes and go off the cliff before you can restart it. If it is a automatic then it wont matter your dead.

Agree with that.

Not trying to be a richard but why buy a mustang if your only goal is max fuel economy? I enjoy driving too much to constantly think about each little thing I can do to max my mpg. With my 2004 Mach 1 I always took the engine to 4 or 5 grand when merging on the freeway.

You took the words out of my mouth. Seriously...we drive Mustangs right? Why own a Mustang to -foot around and drive like grandma in her Buick, coast in Neutral, all to save a few bucks on gas that you probably throw away doing other stuff regardless (car mods, Starbucks, eating out).

Go get an economy car (Kia maybe?) and brag about MPG. I love the sound of the Stang, and pretty much fill it up when it runs dry, who cares about MPG? And as long as gas isn't $4/gallon, we should be good to go.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm definitely not against performance, I thought this was just an interesting thing to try.

No plans to buy a priu.

Greg, obviously as you can see, its been a while since I stuffed the gas peddle but (keep in mind i'm 100% stock) I just don't feel like I have much power. Even when I have the peddle as far down as it goes it takes a while to get the rpms up. I'm not a mechanical guy by any means but my last vehicle ('01 f150 manual) I could merge on the free way in 2nd gear going 60.
