Over the past I'd say year or so, my car has gradually run hotter. I never could figure out why. Coolant level was good, I tried water wetter, and different mixtures of more water in the summer months. The past few days thoug it was running quit a bit hotter and finally over heated. What had happened was the fan motor finally quit. It had been working all along, but appearntly over time was getting harder to turn, so it was pulling more amps, which nearly melted the connector. The fan was turring slower and not cooling enough until it finally just stopped. When I pulled it out black dust poured out and you could hear the bearing screeching. The dealer wanted $350 for it and couldn't get it for about 4 days. Napa had one in stock for $135 and it took about 30 minutes to swap out.

I just thought I'd pass this along incase anyone else has a similar issue. So if you do check the fan, not only to see if it is running but also that it spins smoothly.

Thank you for posting this . It may save some people (and me !) some grief further on down the road.
