In Texas it has to go through a bonded title process. You don't end up with a clear title for a few years. The good news is, that as low as that car's presumptive value would be with the State of Texas, a bond should be all of about $100 or so. The bad news is, if someone else shows up in the timeframe for which the title is bonded and has some proof as to ownership of the vehicle, you're out either the vehicle or responsible for repaying the bond.Maybe.... I dunno what it's like going through that ordeal in Texas, but here in Georgia they just look up the VIN to see if it was reported stolen and call it a day. I believe the cutoff is 30 years, beyond that a title isn't required.
It looks like it could be pretty solid from the few pics they provided. I'd consider it if I was in the market and hope that the title could be used as a bargaining tool....
