Crap talking from an STI owner

Well a coworker of mine has been riding me about my mustang since i got it. He continously throwing stabs at me about how his STI will smoke my stang. Most of the time we are badgering back and forth, and its mostly in good spirits. What do you guys think about this?

He is running a 2008 STI that has a COBB tuner. Other wise stock. Im refering to my sig car that is stock for now.

I do believe he will pull me for the first 60 ft, but im confident that the stang can run him down in the 1320.

Im hoping eventually we will make it to the track so i can shut him up about it.

But i thought i would share some of the fun im having at work talking **** with a Suburu guy.

I think you'd bet him. Just make sure you get a good launch, that's good your going to the track.

his car would hit 13.2 tops at only 103 give or take. With a good driver/launch.
My buddy pulled a 13.2 stock with cobb. But he is a really good driver, and it was at a fast track (Cecil).
Stock 11' will run high 12's with a crappy launch.
I pulled a 12.7 with a 2.1 60 at 113.
U will def reel him hard.

Ya, im thinking so for sure. I rode in his car and i definitely wasnt that impressed. But he can drive. He has a decent build 93 mustang. He is into the hobby for sure.


I tell him all the time hes going to need a bigger turbo to handle this 5.0.

In reality if you go by numbers you will kick his a$$. Unless you can't drive and he can but, STI's are not really that impressive and if you don't launch those suckers at like 5K RPM it's not going anywhere.

I can handle myself fair enough. Im sure he can to though. It will be fun at the track.

I think you could take him. But it will be imperative to get a good launch. It's tough to beat an AWD car off the line. Sound like it will be a fun night at the track!

I raced one the other day while I was shopping for my new stang. Was test driving a 2011 GT/CS when one started messing with me on the freeway. I would have let it go, but it was a chick driving the car and a video camera came out the window. I wasn't going to let Ford down like that, so I dropped into third and smoked that chick. EDIT: From a dig, watch your launch....you know what these things will do when you drop the hammer

Then, I promptly found a 2012 GT/CS last wednesday and bought that thing =) These new stangs are amazing! Leaps and bounds better than the 2003 GT I had. Loving loving loving the new ride. Now I just need to get some pictures of the thing.

Well, I happen to love both of these cars. (Just ducked to avoid all the crap thrown at me). I actually am trying to convince the wife to go with a WRX next time she needs a car. But, I agree you should beat him. However, those things can get ridiculously fast very easily and can launch like a rocket with that AWD with just a few mods, so be careful when you mess with them. The Cobb unit is pretty good in them, but yeah, he needs a bigger turbo to keep up right now. Good thing for you is the auto, so no missed shifts. Good thing for him is the launch with AWD.

I traded in my '04 STI for a 2011 5.0. You should take him as long as it is not raining...

I should hope so with about 150hp more and a 12 year advance in technology.

To the OP. Its your donald duck son. I don`t buy the whole versus thing. One fluffed gear or bit of $hit driving and its an unfair representation. Youtube is full of it. I`ve seen stangs beating Porsches and Honda civics with fart cannons pulling away from guys in faster cars not even trying.
Its all bollocks.
