Exactly. It wasn't about the graphics. But remember, we are talking about a game from '01.

The online community is part of what made the game so great.

yea definatly the online is what made the game, the car shows, the auctions, the trash talk, selling parts, joining teams, setting up races, Theres so many things that made that game perfect, the HUNDREDS of of types of parts you could buy for one part, the trading was so realistic, so user friendly, it was pretty much an actualy simulation of real life with fake money.

heh i remember taking a 3500 dollar stock ranchero and doing handicap races against people who just joined but had really nice cars haha. they had no idea wtf they were doing and thought they would win easy but i had the exact time i dial in at perfectly. made an easy million bucks from doing that all day , and won some nice cars. the things they would type to me after they realized they lost their car, damn, those were the days hah.

Yeah, I miss that game also. I still have the box and everything for it.

I personally loved the amount of customization with real world parts and actually seeing the engine dyno curve and working with it. I liked most of the cars from the 30's coupes to 70's muscle cars. It was a blast.

I would always build a midrange car pushing 400-500hp (B-A class). All of the unskilled racers would have 900hp+(SA class) and fly into walls. Ah, the joys of beating faster cars.

Here's a list of the cars. Most of them could be had in coupe or convertible models. Chopped tops. The older cars like the '32 Ford could be found without bumpers or fenders.

This list is missing one vehicle. It was a Chevrolet pickup and I can't seem to remember the model, as I never had one in the game. If anyone could remember I would complete my list. Thanks in advance. (also if I'm missing anything else please feel free to correct me)

The 1998 Toyota Supra and 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX were added towards the end of the game's life. EA was getting them ready for the next Need for Speed, the tuner "Underground" series.

Anyone here ever heard of Nitto1320? www.nitto1320.com
When I was a freshman in HS, I played that game 24/7 also... Became pretty well known on a s/n called I Like Yo Mamma (lol).
