Did Evolution Performance rip off my buddy?

My best friend just bought the C&L/SCT package from Evolution Performance. Everyone has been raving about Evolution's tune on the SCT but it seems like it's junk on my buddy's car. I'm not saying it made the car run bad, because it did pick it up some. However, it seems that Evolution removed some features that are normally standard on the SCT II. His tuner will not allow you to raise timing at EITHER of the 3 intervals; only allows you to back off timing. His tuner also does not have the fuel injector option. There is also no MAF meter selection. It seems this tune is only specific to his C&L cai and does not allow for any future adjustment to compensate for mods.

Is there any way that I can copy my tune from my SCT that I got from JLT and load it onto his tuner? My tune has TONS of options that JLT retained and added. It has a CAI option in it where you can tell it if you have the JLT, C&L, Steeda, JMS, as well as a couple others.

thanks!

there is no mass air metter option for 05 06 cars when useing a xcal2

this is only available on the SF flash device and it is not what you get when you order a custom tune and mass air kit.

i personaly tune cars with xcals2 and we limit what the customer can do with his as well in order to prevent the customer from damaging his engine.

we normaly allow the customer to remove as much timeing as he wants but not add and same with adding as much fuel as he wants but not remove any

with the xcall 2 the options you have controll over if its totaly unlocked are

tire rpms per mile
gear ratio
add or subtract up to 20 percent fuel
add or subtract 15 degrees of timeing
rev limit in nuetral
rev limit in gear
speed limiter
fan on off low and high speed temps.

You let your best friend buy a #&L ?:D

Just kidding.

1fastZ is right, many tuners "restrict" what the customer can do to CYA (cover there but) if the customer thinks they need more timing when they don't.
Yes, it stinks not having all the adjustabilty the X-2 offers, but any SCT tuner can add these features if he feels he needs them.

Thanks
Jay

I just bought the JLT and SCT xcal2 from evolution performance. I installed everything and didnt see any perfpormance gains everyone was experiencing and claiming. So I called up Fred and asked him what the deal was and he was clueless saying I was the first one like this. He told me to turn on the headlights and disconnect the battery. I did that and then hooked it back up and took her for a spin and holy cow did I get a new vehicle. I am not in 1st gear long at all and second pulls nice and hard with little lag at low rpms, everything else just gets you down the road. Great product. Havent heard one negative about this and just love the combination. Keep up the great work guys.:SNSign:
