they are both a v-1 compressors. the S trim is the more expensive kit making 8-10 and comes with fuel pump and stuff. the SC trim is the cheap kit making 5-6

does the s trim just have a smaller pulley or is it the actual gearing in the compressor?

and if i get a base kit making 5-6 psi and decide to upgrade i can just throw a better headunit and it will fit up and work perfect with existing vortech brackets and stuff?

and i am assuming the 3 yr warranty is void when you remove the pulley from an SC to upgrade boost?

The s trim and sc are competely different. The S trim flows more and can make alot more boost, I believe 18-20 something like that. If your wanting to buy a new kit which i suggest you do be a novi 1000 kit with a renegade crank pulley this way you keep the warrenty and make alot more boost. The novi 1000 can make more boost and I believe it flows more then the sc plus the hardware is no joke.

And I forgot to say that yes different headunits will fit in the same brackets. Good luck, boost rules

i know that the S trim flows more and makes more boost out of the box but i am wanting to know what is mechanically different about the two. different housings, impellers, gear ratios???

I think the only difference between the S and the SC is the gear ratio. You have to spin the SC a little faster than the S for the same boost.

The S also comes with a 6.87 crank pulley vs the SC's 6"

I am running the SC on mine with a 7" crank pulley and a 3.12 SC pulley and am making 10lbs. Its more than the tires can keep up with on the street.

If you look at Vortechs site the data the show is a little confusing, the SC strim is actually a little bit more efficent then the S but what was stated above about the rpm is true. The Sc-trim is newer technology, the S-trim is pushing 13 years or more...

One thing to consider with the S-trim or SQ trim you get a bypass set-up, alum intake tube, boost retard, T-rex fuel pump, and they are 8 rib (not 6).

It depends on what you want to do with the car as far as what blower you should go with. All the major manufactors will make good power, although most builders/racers have their own opinions on what one they use... It is better to have a blower that may be a little large now, then to buy one small and upgrade to a larger headunit down the road, plus the accesories.. The headunit upgrade from Vortech will cost use around $750 plus you'll need the 8 rib pullies $200 or so, and accessories $200-$500

Once the pulley is changed the warranty is void....

My opinon for you is no smaller then a S or SQ trim, Novi 2000 or a Procharger P or D series...

hmm the idea of a good 8 lbs of boost and still under a warranty is sure starting to look like a good idea! i have been thinking of getting the SC and then maybe running more boost through it. but now that you compare the cost of the additional add ons that come with the S trim to start with its a better deal to get it first.

what sort of boost numbers are people making when putting a smaller pulley on an s trim
