DIY Vortech FMIC - my attempt!

got any pics of the piping from the s/c to the bottom of the engine?

did you use a 45* pipe off the blower to the straight piece?

(i wish i had the extra cash for your suspension parts but the wifes b-day is in 2 weeks)

EDIT: Thanks Mike for moving to 4.6lTech!

But no, I put a 3.0"->2.75" reducer on the blower, then a straight piece going all the way down to a horizontal piece coupled together with a 90' elbow (bent at about 80', it's not smooshing or anything so its fine), then that to another straight piece, to a 90" elbow, to a 90' bend pipe, to the intercooler.

heres a couple more pics that show the pipe routing and new mounting location:

New location again.

90* bend at about 80* from blower straight piece to crossover piece!

Another view!

hey benny, after the 90* on the outlet of the IC did you use a 75* pipe?

i'm ordering that same piping kit next week and need to know what pipes to get since they give you choices.

are the couplings as good as the ones from silicone intakes.com?

Couplers are almost as good as silicone intake couplers. The particular kit I got came with two of each of these: 75*, 90*, straight, 45*...then a buncha straight 3" couplers, and a couple 90* elbows.

From the blower onward it goes -> straight, 90* elbow, straight, 90* elbow, 90 pipe, hump hose, intercooler, coupler, 90* pipe, 45* coupler (replacing with 90*, fits better), 75* pipe, hump hose, BOV pipe, coupler, 75* pipe, coupler, throttle body.

No secret - nothing special either. Just '96 GSX 750f Katana. A buddy of mine owes me some money, and I need a bike, so I'm getting it for just a couple hundred. It needs new fairings (don't care, will run it naked), battery, and needs the carbs cleaned (obviously not a problem for me hah), some seafoam, and a little TLC and she'll be good as new.

I needed a starter bike and this was perfect. :D Probably picking it up tomorrow - my buddy, zx3focus on here and elsewhere, is an experienced rider and is gonna drive it back to my garage OR use his bike trailer heheh.

To keep this on track with tech/intercooler: Does anybody know what kinda paint you can use on an intercooler that won't drastically effect its cooling capabilities? Do they make special paint for intercoolers? I might wanna put some text on there, or perhaps black the bottom portion that protrudes from the bumper so it will remain a super sleeper :nice:

No special kind. Just regular old Krylon.
