Do Heads and Cams do anything for our cars?

I paid $150 for my cam swap and it took him less than 3 hours. I was suppose to get them installed last weekend but he ordered some tool that would drop the install time tremendously. It holds the chains in place while you remove the cams I think?

The nitrous kit is Edelbrock 70405 and paid $700 at the time. It comes with a heater, purge, wot switch, and fuel safety cutoff switch. I'd take $350 for it.
 
how does your computer know to bump the injectors/fuel pressure for nitrous if it does not spray in front of the maf?

so for just a stage 1 cam swap it would be just pop the covers stick the tool in there........then swap the sticks?
 
anybody know the answer to my question?on modular depot the comp camps in the xe270ah are pi heads..do i get pi heads or non-pi heads?..also xe270ah or a vt stage II, what would net me a proven higher rwhp?what cam makes power uptop?

judging by your screename, you have pi heads. 96-98 are npi and 99+ are pi

No ported heads, etc. I'm pretty darn happy with the results. The only thing is I had the Sportsmans put in at the shop and I'm almost thinking they're too loud....I must be getting old.

As far as installation, a friend of mine and I did the cams and springs. It isn't an overly difficult job, but you may invent a few new curse word combinations while installing the springs. The cams are actually really easy especially with the AFM cam chain tool. For $29, it saves a lot of work. Also, the OTC valve spring tool that everyone uses is a must. That is the only way you are going to do the springs in the car. The only thing that we found is that we had to grind the tool out a little because it kept dragging the keepers off the stems when we were installing the springs. Otherwise, it does the job very well.

Many people on here and Mod Depot recommend bringing each piston to TDC when changing the springs and let the valves rest on the top of the piston. We didn't. We used compressed air in the cylinders to keep them shut. It worked flawlessly, but you will need a hose to screw into the sparkplug hole and an air compressor.

Here is the AFM tool. It wedges in the chains and keeps everything locked in place so you can change the cams without pulling the front cover.

Shot in the dark but.....

Will that tool work for us pre 99 guys? If so, HOT DAMN.........I'm installing the cams this weekend along with my Intake. Does anyone have a write up using this tool?
 
I'd suggest some VT Stage 2 Cams, good P&P heads, full exhaust, aftermarket MAF, TB, Upper Plenum, and a good tune :D

Should give you the #'s you're hunting (honestly I think it'd give well over 300 RWHP :))

Then you can get back to the shifter, S/F',s etc...
