I bought an LX fox off my buddy. It has a massive 5" ally drive shaft.

I looked at the trans underneath the car but it is hard to make out any numbers. I do see the tremec logo on the tail housing though. The metal tag has 13 52 208 which I found is a 92 5.0 WC. But is this a factory WC or hads someone fitted a tremec 3550 or TKO?

Did the 92 LX have a WC from the factory with a tremec logo on?

Tremec is just a brand name. There are 6 or 7 tranmissions that install in a Mustang that Tremec makes.

Around 1997, Tremec bought borg warner and the rights to the t-5. So after that, any T-5 was built with Tremec logos on it.

A 1992 t-5 should still have borg warner on it.

Pics would help ID it

Im sure I can see the tremec logo on the tail housing.

It's hard to see when it is in the car with the exhaust running under it.

Any other ways of identifying without pulling it out?

Well if you caint read the tag on the trans, then pull the shifter boot and count how many bolts hold the shifter onto the trans. The tremacs has 6 shifter bolts, the t-5 has 4. Here is a picture of both trans,ALL T-5's look like this ,but some tremacs look a touch diffrent.

Nice tip John!

I'll check out the shifter!

It just seemed strange having such a large ally driveshaft on a factory trans.

The car is also procharged with a p600b so I guess the trans was repaced at some point!

only a true tremac tremac has 6 bolts. A T-5 tremac has 4.It might be hard to see the front 2 bolts on the tremac if it is one.As Mustang5L5 said nothing strange about a larger then normal drive shaft. Espically if it's a alumn one. peace
